ACCOUNTING MANAGER (PAYROLL & HR ADMINISTRATION)

Direct Hire

Monday - Friday

8:00 am - 5:00 pm

$58k - $80k per year, depending on experience

POSITION SUMMARY

Well-established, family-owned custom home builder, is seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee the company's accounting operations while supporting payroll and human resources administration.

This position is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys being involved in the day-to-day operations of a growing business. The Accounting Manager will lead all accounting functions, manage payroll, and coordinate key HR responsibilities including employee onboarding, benefits administration, workers' compensation, compliance, safety programs, and employee records.

The ideal candidate has a strong accounting background, excellent organizational skills, and experience supporting HR functions in a small business environment.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounting & Financial Management (Primary Responsibility)

• Manage full-cycle accounting including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, and bank reconciliations
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements
• Maintain job costing, Work-in-Progress (WIP), and construction accounting records
• Process construction draws and monitor project profitability
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management
• Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations
• Maintain inventory and fixed asset records
• Support annual audits and tax preparation
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
• Utilize Sage accounting software to maintain accurate financial records

Payroll Administration

• Process payroll accurately and on schedule
• Maintain payroll records and employee deductions
• Administer commission and bonus calculations
• Ensure payroll compliance and reporting requirements are met

Human Resources Administration

• Coordinate hiring and onboarding for office and field employees
• Maintain employee personnel files and HR documentation
• Administer employee benefits and assist with open enrollment
• Manage workers' compensation claims
• Coordinate safety meetings and maintain safety records
• Monitor company fleet compliance and documentation
• Assist with employment compliance and HR policies
• Coordinate company mobile phone accounts and employee administrative services
• Support employee relations and general HR functions

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 6 years of progressive accounting experience
• Experience managing full-cycle accounting
• 2 years of payroll processing experience
• Strong understanding of GAAP
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience supporting HR administration, HR Generalist, or HR Specialist responsibilities
• Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality

Preferred

• Construction accounting experience
• Job costing and Work-in-Progress (WIP) reporting experience
• Sage accounting software experience
• Experience with benefits administration
• Workers' compensation experience
• Safety compliance experience
• Experience coordinating hiring and employee onboarding
