Pre-anesthesia assessment, obtaining and/or verifying patient consent, discussing anesthetic options and risks with the patient, induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia, monitoring of the patient's physiological condition, and performance of clinical intervention as needed.

Requirements include an M.D./D.O. degree from an accredited College of Medicine, ECFMG and FLEX completion, completion of an approved residency in anesthesia, and current licensure as a physician.
