Market Development Specialist - Seattle, WA

Job Summary We are building a world‑class Market Development team to support the future growth of the Wholesale division. The Market Development Specialist (MDS) role focuses on making every partner store successful by positioning Purple as the go‑to brand, training staff, and driving revenue growth. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Travel daily within the market and overnight for partner store visits to train on Purple products and build relationships with Retail Sales Associates (RSAs) and store leaders. Position partner stores to maximize revenue growth and Purple’s Balance of Share (BOS) by providing resources and training. Influence brand representation, product knowledge, and merchandising to increase profit for Purple. Coach, train, and sell, engaging store teams through one‑to‑one and group trainings so RSAs are highly knowledgeable and actively recommend Purple products. Communicate corporate initiatives to stores and bring field insights back to the account teams. Execute engaging sales incentive programs, rewarding top‑performing RSAs to drive BOS growth. Collaborate with store leadership and internal support teams to ensure Purple’s brand standards and merchandising are met consistently. Provide solutions and troubleshoot issues, building capability within partner stores. Required Skills, Education & Experience 2–3 years of indirect customer sales experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred. Passionate about coaching, training, and selling. Comfortable presenting to large groups, including leadership. Sales focused—able to sell products or ideas. Creative, curious approach to problem solving and troubleshooting, willing to challenge the status quo. Meticulous about detail and accuracy in a fast‑paced environment. Exceptional organizational skills with ability to meet schedules and deadlines. A team player who anticipates emerging issues and collaborates to implement solutions. Flexible, results‑driven, and able to adapt to changing priorities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Computer and software proficiency (Salesforce, Outlook, Microsoft Office). Prior experience developing or facilitating training content preferred. Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and evenings to meet business needs. Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license; willingness to relocate if required. Ability to travel promptly, including overnight and airline travel. Successful completion of background check, drug screen, and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check. Physical Requirements Activities may include standing or sitting for prolonged periods, moving objects up to 15 pounds, repetitive wrist and hand motions, and occasional travel. Environmental conditions may involve a noisy open office, frequent airline travel, and a car‑travel schedule.
