CNC Machine Repair Technician

CNC Machine Maintenance TechnicianWe are seeking an experienced CNC Machine Maintenance Technician to keep our client's precision manufacturing equipment running at peak performance. This role is critical to minimizing downtime and ensuring consistent production quality across a shop floor of CNC lathes, mills, machining centers, and related equipment. The ideal candidate combines strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills with hands-on experience maintaining CNC and automated manufacturing equipment.Key Responsibilities:Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on CNC machine tools, including CNC lathes, vertical and horizontal machining centers, Swiss-type screw machines, multi-axis mills, CNC grinders, and EDM equipmentDiagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults on CNC equipment, servo motors, spindles, ball screws, linear guides, and way coversTroubleshoot CNC controls (Fanuc, Siemens, Haas, Mazak, Okuma, or similar) and PLC-based systems to identify root causes of downtimePerform spindle alignment, backlash adjustment, and geometric accuracy checks to maintain machine tolerancesMaintain and repair ancillary equipment such as coolant systems, chip conveyors, bar feeders, robotic loaders, and CMM equipment as neededRead and interpret electrical schematics, hydraulic/pneumatic diagrams, and OEM service manualsMaintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and parts/inventory records using a CMMS (computerized maintenance management system)Coordinate with machinists, CNC programmers, and quality inspectors to minimize production disruptions during repairsSupport installation, rigging, and commissioning of new CNC machines and equipmentOrder and manage spare parts inventory for critical machine componentsFollow all safety procedures including lockout/tagout (LOTO) and machine guarding protocolsParticipate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives to reduce recurring failuresQualifications:High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree or technical certification in Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, Electromechanical Technology, or related field preferred3+ years of hands-on experience maintaining CNC machine tools in a precision manufacturing environmentStrong working knowledge of CNC controls (Fanuc, Siemens, Haas, etc.) and servo drive systemsProficiency diagnosing electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systemsExperience with mechanical alignment, bearing/ball screw replacement, and spindle rebuilds a plusAbility to read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manualsBasic PLC troubleshooting experience preferredStrong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently under time pressureWillingness to respond to off-shift or emergency maintenance calls as neededForklift and rigging experience a plusPhysical Requirements:Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in confined spaces, and stand/kneel for extended periodsComfortable working around industrial machinery, electrical panels, and elevated platformsBenefits:Health/dental/vision, 401(k), PTO, etc.Opportunity to work with state-of-the-art CNC equipment in a growing precision manufacturing environment
