Overview Performs and demonstrates proficiency and understanding in one or more areas of the laboratory. Under the supervision of a Laboratory Manager, obtains specimens from patients and performs established clinical tests and procedures. Interprets test results and performs instrument maintenance. Responsibilities Demonstrate skill and accuracy in obtaining specimens for all age groups serviced. Maintain inter- and intra- departmental communication and relations. Observe safety, infection control, and risk management policies and procedures. Participate in continuing education programs and related professional activities. Perform any duties necessary that improve the overall efficiency and quality of the department. Monitor and control departmental supplies. Show competency in performing all laboratory testing procedures. Effectively use and maintain laboratory equipment. Qualifications Education: Graduate of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technician program and/or an AS in Medical Technology or Medical Sciences; and registered by ASCP, NCA, AMT or equivalent within one year of employment. Experience: General 1 year clinical laboratory experience or equivalent clinical lab training program. Skills: Must possess clinical laboratory technical skills along with phlebotomy and clerical/computer skills. #J-18808-Ljbffr
