Engineering Team Lead

Responsibilities Understand project requirements and develop a design fee for the work requested. Prepare and oversee work plans for engineering and production resources. Oversee Engineers, Designers, and Modeling staff assigned to team or project work. Communicate with the Project Manager or Executive regarding effort required to accomplish expected deliverables and provide project support, including developing requests for additional services for submittal to the PM or Owner. Lead the Engineering CAC effort and interact with the project PM. Resolve complex problems such as conflicting design requirements, unsuitability of conventional materials, and difficult coordination requirements. Supervise the coordination of the project with city, state, and county officials and other regulatory agencies. Attend project design meetings with the overall Design Build Team. Conduct job site visits to review installation or assess current conditions. Perform Value Engineering studies. Act as Engineer of Record for projects within responsibility. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college in engineering, architectural engineering, or construction sciences. Minimum of 8 years of Engineering experience. Registration as a licensed US-based Professional Engineer (P.E.) is required. Field experience strongly recommended. Education and experience can be a combination of education, training, and relevant experience. Competencies Leadership: Ability to lead a diverse team to accomplish goals. Technical and Management Skills Knowledge of engineering processes and calculations, including load calculations, equipment layout, standby distribution, HV/MV distribution, lighting layout & calculations, power & lighting controls, utility coordination, grounding, value engineering, applicable codes and standards. Working knowledge of equipment and system testing and commissioning. Ability to assume responsibility, interface, and coordinate with others. Ability to analyze and resolve complex engineering problems. Oversight of Electrical System Studies such as Short Circuit, Overcurrent Protection, Arc Flash, Voltage Drop/Droop, and Underground Thermal Calculations. Management skills: work planning, resource management, fee development, staff oversight, staff development, and advancement planning. Knowledge of electrical construction to understand how design packages will be built. Fluency with Building Codes and Local Codes in the local area of projects. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.); Oracle preferred. Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, adjust priorities as needed. Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude. Effective oral and written communication skills. Self‑motivated, proactive, and effective team player. Professional interaction with all levels of employees, vendors, clients, and trade partners. Travel & Working Conditions Travel up to 25% (does not include local field visits). General work environment includes sitting, standing, walking, typing, carrying, pushing, bending; indoor work with varying environmental conditions.
