Malvern Treatment Centers is currently seeking a full time Cook to work at our Malvern Treatment Center facility in Philadelphia. The location of our Malvern Treatment Centers - Philadelphia is currently located in South Philadelphia but we will be relocating to 3905 W. Ford Road - Philadelphia, PA 19131 in May 2025.

The position is a full time opportunity with flexible work hours between 6am-6:30pm. This position offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, paid time off and 401K with company match.

Position Summary

Responsible for the daily oversight of food service operation including the preparation of quality food items, sanitation, and service of the patients and staff.

Summary Of Essential Position Functions

• Prepares meals, snacks and food for special functions.
• Cleans kitchen, equipment and storage areas. Oversees proper sanitation procedures and ensures compliance of weekly and monthly cleaning schedules.
• Ensures proper operation of all food service equipment and reports any concerns to the manager.
• Monitors for compliance with Department of Health and CARF standards.
• Follows dietary standards for special diets ordered for patients.
• Presents attractive plates with fresh, wholesome and nutritious foods in a cost effective manner; presents food properly seasoned; presents food on time and at proper temperatures; and prepares meals of proper quality.
• Follows recipes for food and provides food in sufficient quantity according to census.
• Ensures daily temperature logs are maintained with use of functioning thermometers in all cold storage units.
• Finds suitable uses for excess food to avoid waste.
• Properly stores, dates, and rotates stock.
• Coordinates necessary preparation for next days meals.
• Plans and coordinates new ideas and new menu items.
• Attends in-services and all required trainings.
• Checks deliveries for accuracy and quality.
• Other duties as may be assigned.

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent required. ServSafe Certificate preferred. 2 years experience required in food service.

Emergency Classification: Essential Personnel

Work Environment and Hazards: Works with extremes of heat and cold, knives and other sharps as necessary to perform duties.

Physical Requirements: Lifting up to 50 lbs. With frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 lbs. A significant degree of walking and standing. Reaching, handling, and manual dexterity required.
