Registered Nurse (T&RC) – CPEP Part‑Time Night Shift Position Summary: At Stony Brook Medicine, Registered Nurses are critical members of the team who diagnose and treat health problems through nursing methods such as case finding, health teaching and counseling. Incumbents provide supportive and restorative care, adhere to medical regimens, and collaborate with other health disciplines. Working Conditions The position may involve exposure to infectious disease, blood, body fluids, and other unpleasant elements. The RN may experience unpredictable, emergency, or crisis situations, irregular hours, and high workload. This position is classified under OSHA Category 1. Duties Assess patient conditions and nursing needs; coordinate care with other health disciplines. Develop written individualized care plans including teaching and discharge planning. Administer direct care and professional nursing care when needed. Administer medications. Practice infection control and maintain a clean, safe environment. Assume responsibility for ensuring nursing care for all assigned patients, communicating changes and questions to Charge RN or Clinician. Develop, maintain, and update written care plans; set priorities and goals with patients and families. Document evidence of patient/family teaching and responses; align instructions with physician directives. Communicate and collaborate effectively with staff and other departments. Participate in unit or hospital quality assurance activities or committees. Qualifications Registered Nurse 1 (T&RC) Required: Possession of or eligibility for a New York State RN license. Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing and at least one year of previous hospital acute‑care experience, including experience with patients with psychiatric or mental health disorders. Only licensed RN experience in an acute‑care facility will be counted toward RN1 experience. Pre‑Employment Requirements Pre‑employment physical examination and medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine Employee Health Services. Electronic reference check with a minimum of three professional references. Completed 4‑panel drug screen. Compliance with regulatory pre‑employment screenings.
