Job Description - Licensed Specialist School Psychologist (LSSP - 210) 2026-2027 (260000BJ) Licensed Specialist School Psychologist (LSSP - 210) 2026-2027 (260000BJ) Job Overview The Licensed Specialist School Psychologist (LSSP) will conduct thorough evaluations that determine a special education disability condition, an educational need for specialized instruction through special education, and appropriate recommendations that translate to positive learning outcomes for the student. The incumbent will develop, implement, and monitor the progress of appropriate support services for special education students, including instructional, direct, and indirect support services. The LSSP will collaborate with special education staff to facilitate ARD/IEP meetings and ensure the appropriate implementation of the individual education plan. The incumbent will maintain compliance with all federal / local timelines, individual records, state performance plan indicators 11 & 12, and discipline procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Service Delivery Plan and provide services that are appropriate and consistent with counseling / behavior goals contained in the individual education plan (IEP) Provide related services in the form of counseling or direct/indirect psychological services, and/or instructional services in the form of social skills instruction to identified students within the special education population as determined by an Individualized Education Program (IEP) Utilize assessment and evaluation information to plan individualized programs and make instructional decisions that result in appropriate services for students with special education disabilities Develop Functional Behavioral Assessments, Counseling, Behavior and Social Skills IEPs, IEPs, and Behavior Intervention Plans Monitor the implementation of the IEP/ARD and support service recommendations Deliver short-term services for students such as crisis counseling, suicide prevention, and behavior consultation Facilitate ARD/IEP meetings using the district special education software IEP program as outlined in district special education handbook Collaborate with assessment personnel, families, educators, administrators, outside agencies, and related service personnel to provide appropriate services for students Compliance Comply with and meet federal and state mandates and local board policy Conduct Full Individual Evaluations as part of a multi-disciplinary evaluation team to identify students who may be eligible for special education services using current assessment best practices that are consistent with laws, rules, and regulations according to federal, state, and local policies/procedures Compile and interpret evaluation results of students using multiple sources of data, along with information from teachers and parents, to diagnose special education disability conditions and to help assess eligibility/need for special services Comply with special education laws, local/district policy, and individual evaluation results with campus staff and parents to plan individualized programs and make instructional recommendations that result in appropriate services for students with disabilities Administrative/Campus Support Support student services provided by the LSSP Consult with school administration, personnel and parents regarding evaluation results or other questions related to special education or related services Assist special education teachers in developing appropriate IEPs for special education students Maintain filing system of student physical and computerized reports, records, and other required documents (e.g., FIEs, testing protocols, counseling/psychological services notes, parent/guardian communication) Participate in training/district meetings and assist in preparation, planning and execution of staff development Supervisory Responsibilities None Qualification Requirements Master's degree or will have degree conferred within 6 months of application Licensure by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists as an LSSP or LSSP Trainee Status Letter from the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists or will have LSSP license within 6 months of application. Minimum of 1 year of experience providing psychological services of related field in a school district. This may include internship experience. Skill in technical report writing and in developing interpersonal relationships with professional staff and students Requires a broad range of knowledge of behavioral intervention techniques Proficient in using Windows Operating System as well as Microsoft Office applications (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas both verbally and in writing Physical Requirements/Working Conditions The work environment characteristics and physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Attendance at conferences and professional development is required. Work involves everyday risks and discomforts which require normal safety precautions when operating equipment or performing job duties. May work prolonged or irregular hours and must be able to maintain emotional control under stress.
