Job Summary

A growing scrap metal recycling facility is seeking a dependable, safety focused CDL Driver / Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with experience in commercial driving, manual transmission CDL trucks, heavy equipment operation, material handling, recycling, construction, manufacturing, or industrial environments.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on professional who enjoys a variety of responsibilities, including transporting materials, operating heavy equipment, assisting customers, and supporting daily yard operations. Applicants must possess a valid CDL and be able to safely operate a manual transmission CDL truck. Experience operating forklifts, loaders, excavators, cranes, or other heavy equipment is a plus, and on the job training is available for additional equipment.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate company CDL vehicles, including manual transmission trucks, in accordance with DOT regulations and company safety standards.
• Transport scrap metal and recyclable materials throughout the yard and to designated locations.
• Load, unload, sort, and process recyclable materials efficiently and safely.
• Assist customers with unloading scrap materials.
• Operate forklifts, loaders, cranes, excavators, and other heavy equipment as needed (training provided).
• Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle and equipment inspections.
• Report equipment maintenance or safety concerns promptly.
• Maintain accurate driving logs and equipment inspection records.
• Keep the yard clean, organized, and compliant with company safety standards.
• Perform general labor and yard duties as assigned to support daily operations.
  Qualifications / Requirements
  
• Valid Class A CDL required.
• Must be able to safely operate a manual transmission CDL truck.
• Previous commercial driving experience required.
• Experience operating heavy equipment such as forklifts, loaders, excavators, cranes, or material handlers preferred.
• Experience in scrap metal recycling, construction, manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environments is a plus.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn additional equipment.
• Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
• Ability to safely lift, move, and handle materials.
• Reliable attendance with a strong work ethic.
• Positive attitude and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.
