Sr. Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join a nonprofit organization on a Contract basis in California. This opportunity is ideal for someone in finance who can provide dependable accounting support during a staffing gap while maintaining accuracy across core financial activities. The role calls for someone who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and brings hands-on experience with Blackbaud and nonprofit accounting practices.Responsibilities:• Lead monthly close activities by preparing and reviewing financial records to ensure timely and accurate reporting.• Maintain the general ledger by recording accounting activity and verifying that entries align with established financial standards.• Prepare journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation and ensure transactions are posted correctly.• Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a regular basis, identify discrepancies, and resolve variances efficiently.• Perform bank reconciliations to confirm cash activity and maintain accurate account balances.• Support ongoing accounting operations by reviewing financial data and helping preserve strong internal controls.• Assist with nonprofit financial processes, including fund-related tracking and reporting requirements as needed.
