Job Description: Environmental Specialist role supporting an onshore drilling campaign in the NPRA block, Alaska (two firm wells using two rigs). The position ensures full compliance with applicable environmental regulations, the Environmental Impact Assessment, and all obligations derived from the Environmental Monitoring Plan (PVA) during planning and execution. The role is responsible for planning, supervision, control, and reporting of environmental and related quality aspects across drilling, completion, testing, and potential frac/flowback activities. Project context: Vertical exploration/appraisal wells (planned TD ~6,000-30,000 ft MD), potential well testing in discovery cases, single-stage frac planned for exploratory wells, and wells either permanently abandoned or temporarily suspended based on objectives. Start/Duration: Expected start mid-June 2026; assignment duration 21 months. Work location: Anchorage, Alaska (with operational support as required). Work schedule: 5 days/week with weekends and national holidays off, with occasional weekend/holiday support based on operational needs. Reporting line: Drilling Project Manager / S&E Excellence Center. Key interfaces: Wells Project Manager / S&E Excellence Center / Land Team; contractors and service providers; environmental authorities; local communities. Responsibilities:

- Define the Environmental Permitting Plan for drilling activities planned on Alaska's North Slope.
- Manage environmental baseline studies required for compliance with local regulations.
- Manage Environmental Impact Assessments, Environmental Assessments, and NEPA processes as required for local, State, and Federal compliance.
- Manage interactions with local, State, and Federal environmental regulatory agencies.
- Support stakeholder identification and preparation of the stakeholders' management plan.
- Define and manage environmental programs (air, waste, water, noise, soil, groundwater); monitor progress and communicate results to authorities per regulations.
- Manage biodiversity action plans in accordance with applicable regulations.
- Conduct audits of wells and service contractors; ensure environmental mitigation measures are effectively implemented.
- Perform assurance activities (audits/inspections) to verify contractor compliance with environmental requirements.
- Ensure compliance with local, State, and Federal environmental requirements throughout the project.
- Respond to environmental incidents promptly; document response and follow up on any resulting liabilities.
- Ensure oil spill preparedness and coordinate emergency drills.
- Prepare project-specific environmental procedures.
- Communicate environmental constraints, requirements, and mitigation measures to project stakeholders.
- Prepare environmental reports, including weekly/monthly compliance reports and authority notifications when required.
- Verify that project activities comply with applicable legislation, the Environmental Impact Assessment, and environmental commitments; identify deviations, propose corrective actions, and ensure implementation.
- Coordinate and oversee controls, measurements, and inspections defined in the Environmental Monitoring Plan (PVA), ensuring data quality, traceability, and technical reporting.
- Review and validate documentation produced by contractors and field teams.
- Provide technical advice on quality and environmental management and best practices; support integration of environmental criteria into procedures, training, and controls.
- Monitor costs associated with subcontractors linked to the PVA; verify certifications, scope, and contractual compliance of environmental suppliers.
- Prepare and manage environmental documentation needed for authorizations, permits, notifications, and administrative procedures.
- Prepare the End Of Well Environmental Report.
- University degree in Environmental Science or Engineering (Wells, Industrial, Chemical, Safety, or Environmental Engineering) with specialization in QHSE.
- Proficient in HSEQ Management Systems: ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 9001.
- NEBOSH certification or equivalent.
- Must comply with Fit to Work requirements for working in remote areas.
- Excellent written and spoken English (mandatory).
- Spanish written and spoken communication skills (optional).
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience as an Environmental Specialist in O&G drilling, EPC, or construction projects.
- Relevant previous experience as Environmental Coordinator in Alaska and the North Slope.
- Solid understanding of environmental legislation, environmental impact assessment, and sector-specific regulations in the North Slope.
- Ability to interpret EIAs, Environmental Monitoring Plans, and technical specifications.
- 3 years of proven experience operating in Alaska.
- Advanced computer skills: Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Good planning and organizational skills.
- Strong safety leadership skills and high focus on HSE and process safety.
- Strong support/service orientation to operations teams.
- Knowledge of Alaska environmental rules and regulations and North Slope environmental sensitivities.
- Clear, confident communicator with strong ownership and accountability.
