Job Title: Nurse Practitioner - Cardiac Surgery

Job Type: Locum Tenens

Location: Topeka, KS

Service Setting: Inpatient

Coverage Type: Clinical + Call

Coverage Period: Sep 5 - Dec 5, 2026

Shift Schedule: 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Call Shift Schedule: 24-hr Weekend Call

- Every Other Week Rotation Preferred

Call Type: Beeper

Call Ratio: Every Other Weekend

PATIENT INFORMATION

Patient Demographics: Adult Cardiothoracic Surgery Patients

Patient Volume/Census: 1-10 Patient Encounters Per Shift

Admissions: Included as Needed

Rounding: Included

Phone Consults: Included During Call Coverage

Case Mix: Cardiac Surgery, Vascular Surgery, and Thoracic Surgery

FACILITY INFORMATION

EMR System: Epic

Specialty Backup Available: Cardiovascular Service Line

Support Staff Available: 2 APRNs on Staff

PRIVILEGES & COMPLIANCE

Hospital Privileges Required: Yes

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Endovascular Vein Harvesting (EVH)

Cardiac Surgery Patient Management

Vascular Surgery Patient Management

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Active Nurse Practitioner License Required

Board Certified Nurse Practitioner Preferred

Endovascular Vein Harvest Competency Required

Other Qualifications: Must Be Willing to Teach Two New APPs Endovascular Vein Harvest Techniques

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Provide inpatient cardiothoracic surgery coverage

Perform endovascular vein harvesting for cardiac surgery cases

Manage heart, vascular, and thoracic surgery patients

Participate in floor call and weekend call coverage

Document patient care activities within Epic EMR
