Performs in the hospital setting under the direct supervision of registered nurse or physician as credentialed by the hospital Medical Executive Committee. Performs other unit specific duties as assigned.Key Responsibilities:• Performs as Paramedic in the Emergency Department• Participates in process improvement for the department assigned• Performs patient-focused care• Participates in activities designed to improve health care delivery• Completes assigned goals• Stays current on all licensure and certificationsQualifications:Education: High School Diploma or equivalentCertification:• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross• PHTLS (Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support).Licensure:• Current, valid EMCT Paramedic Certification through the state of Arizona• One year experience as a Paramedic.Preferences:Experience: Previous hospital-based experienceSpecial Position Requirements:Exposure Categories: Category I: Expected duties have routine potential for exposure to blood, body fluids or tissuesOther potential hazard(s): possible exposure to chemical, biological, and radioactive substances; possible exposure to hostile individualsWork Requirements:• Able to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.• Demonstrates good oral and written communication skills.• Able to manage technical business equipment i.e., phone, fax, computer etc.• Able to assist with the movement of an adult patient weighing up to 300 lbs.• Able to care for patients with infectious diseases.• Able to sit for 3-5 hours per day; Able to stand for 3-5 hours per day; Able to walk for 3-5 hours day.Incumbent must be able to: distinguish appropriate colorsCapable of consistently reaching and/or working above and below shoulder levelDate Staff Position Description Created / Revised: 6/14/2023
