Senior Compliance Officer

Job Summary

Serve as a trusted second-line compliance advisor, helping ensure adherence to federal and state regulations. Partner with business units to develop, implement, and oversee compliance policies, procedures, and controls. Investigate compliance concerns, assess regulatory risks, and recommend improvements that strengthen the organization s compliance program, with a primary focus on consumer protection, privacy, and data protection.

Responsibilities

Monitor and analyze applicable federal and state regulations, including Regulations Z, B, CC, and E, HMDA, ECOA, TILA, RESPA, and TISA. Provide second-line advisory and oversight for consumer privacy and data protection requirements, including GLBA, Regulation P, FCRA, and CCPA/CPRA. Review privacy notices, opt-out and limitation rights, permissible information sharing, and first-line privacy controls. Provide proactive compliance guidance to business units through advisory services, projects, and marketing reviews. Analyze new and amended regulations, communicate relevant changes, and provide oversight through the regulatory development process. Provide subject matter expertise in developing corporate compliance policies and confirming alignment with business-unit practices. Participate in ongoing risk assessments and provide effective challenge and oversight to first-line teams. Develop compliance training focused on applicable regulations and areas of elevated risk. Review and help resolve complex and high-risk member complaints related to products and services. Prepare compliance reports for senior management and regulatory bodies. Maintain a strong understanding of business activities, products, and risks to support effective compliance guidance. Collaborate with compliance teams to promote consistent approaches, processes, and standards. Support regulators during examinations, audits, and other regulatory interactions when assigned. Provide guidance on projects and initiatives involving significant compliance risk or complexity.

Requirements

Bachelor s degree or equivalent work experience. At least seven years of experience in financial services, consumer protection compliance, internal audit, external audit, financial services operations, or compliance program development and evaluation. At least seven years of experience applying consumer privacy and data protection laws and regulations, including GLBA, Regulation P, FCRA, and CCPA/CPRA. Knowledge of consumer protection requirements, applicable state laws, regulatory analysis, and compliance process development. Strong understanding of financial services products, operations, regulatory risk, and compliance controls. Proven ability to advise business units, interpret regulatory changes, and strengthen compliance programs.
