Job Summary: The Radiation Oncology Nurse provides specialized nursing care to patients undergoing radiation therapy, collaborating closely with the healthcare team to ensure high-quality, continuous care. This role involves education, counseling, assessment, and coordination of services for patients and their families throughout the treatment process.
Responsibilities:
Assess patient conditions and implement appropriate nursing interventions related to radiation therapy and disease management.
Educate patients and families on treatment procedures, potential side effects, and coping strategies.
Collaborate with Radiation Oncologists and interdisciplinary team members to develop and modify care plans.
Facilitate referrals to supportive services, including rehabilitation, hospice, nutritional counseling, and social support resources.
Maintain clear documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
Ensure compliance with clinical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications:
Current Colorado RN license in good standing.
Minimum of 2 years of RN experience specializing in Radiation Oncology.
Current BLS and ACLS certifications through the American Heart Association.
Demonstrated ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced clinical setting.
Strong communication skills for effective interdisciplinary collaboration.
Knowledge of oncology treatment protocols, patient education, and chronic illness management.
