Job Description The Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt is seeking an experienced, board‑certified Pediatric Critical Care physician to serve as Medical Director of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). This faculty position is available on the Tenure, Clinician Educator, or Clinical Practice track, with academic rank and track commensurate with experience Program Highlights 42‑bed Medical/Surgical PICU 12 fellowship‑trained pediatric critical care faculty ACGME‑accredited Pediatric Critical Care Fellowship Program Collaborative, multidisciplinary care model Strong institutional commitment to quality, safety, and innovation Leadership Responsibilities The PICU Medical Director will: Provide strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for the PICU Foster a culture of clinical excellence, safety, and continuous improvement Collaborate closely with: Nursing leadership Quality and patient safety teams Administrative partners Multidisciplinary clinical teams Support faculty development, education, and program growth Advance the mission of the Division and the Department of Pediatrics Candidate Qualifications Board certified in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine Demonstrated excellence in clinical care and physician leadership Strong communication, collaboration, and team‑building skills Proven or emerging experience in: Program development Operational leadership Quality and safety initiatives Commitment to academic medicine, education, and/or research Research & Academic Environment Vanderbilt Department of Pediatrics consistently ranks top 10 nationally in NIH funding Robust pediatric physician‑scientist training programs Exceptional infrastructure supporting: Clinical and translational research Fellowship and trainee education Career development and mentorship Vanderbilt Health is committed to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
