Certified Athletic Trainer

Position Summary PlaySafe is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the health, safety, and well-being of youth through access to full-time certified athletic trainers and comprehensive sports medicine services. Schedule This is a full-time year-round position in a secondary school setting 401K with match No teaching or clinical hours PlaySafe Employee as outreach to secondary schools Excellent PTO and Sick Leave package Starting $55,000 and up Requirements Bachelors or Masters degree from an accredited athletic training program. Graduate, Degree preferred National Board of Certification - maintained and current certification and continuing education requirements as set forth by the Board of Certification (BOC) State Licensed Athletic Trainer (or Eligible) maintained in accordance with state laws and practice act/regulations. Personal Vehicle for travel to school and events Maintain current certification in CPR, AED, and Emergency Cardiac Care. Candidates must clear a satisfactory background check. Supervisory Relationship This position is supervised by the Director of Sports Medicine and regional supervisors for PlaySafe. Primary Functions / Responsibilities Provide athletic training coverage for high school athletic programs. Establish an effective athletic training program for high school athletics. Provide first aid and injury assessment/treatment/rehabilitation/evaluation and appropriate referrals for high school student‑athletes. Provide coverage at home events and practices from the beginning of the fall sport season to the conclusion of the spring season (according to highest incidence of injury when multiple events coincide). Maintain a line of communication with the team physician(s) regarding athletic health care and recommended treatment/rehabilitation for all athletic injuries. Assist coaching staff in evaluating and implementing sport‑specific conditioning programs and methods. Maintain an effective, efficient, and clean athletic training room. Maintain communication with parents on the care and treatment of their student‑athlete. File all necessary reports and insurance (if responsible for handling) associated with athletic injuries and/or incidents. Maintain a daily AT room visits/treatment log. Oversee the ordering of supplies and equipment pertaining to the athletic training room and maintain an up-to-date inventory. Provide the Athletic Director with an annual budget for supplies and equipment when and if applicable. Equip each team with appropriate medical equipment and supplies needed for practices and travel. Assist in the selection and fitting of protective equipment, including special taping, pads, or braces. Create a safe playing environment by monitoring and controlling environmental risks. Share professional information relative to athletic training with the school’s coaching staff. Review Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) annually and any changes associated with the EAPs with the coaching staff when necessary. Coordinate and organize the daily Athletic Trainer functions with the Athletic Director and coaches at the high school. Is expected to meet PlaySafe’s and the school’s professional, clinical, technical, communication, and documentation requirements and standards.
