Job Description

Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Help create an inclusive and supportive educational environment by sharing your expertise as a Sign Language Interpreter. In this contract, full-time role, you will spend 37.5 hours each week working closely with students and staff to ensure effective communication and accessibility for all.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Valid Sign Language Interpreter certification
  • Minimum 3.5 EIPA Score
  • Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
  • Experience working in school settings preferred
  • Ability to interpret educational material and classroom dialogue
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to supporting students with varying needs

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide sign language interpretation for students in classroom settings, extracurricular activities, assemblies, and meetings
  • Facilitate clear communication between students who are deaf or hard of hearing, peers, and educators
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other school personnel to address student needs
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, impartiality, and confidentiality
  • Adapt interpreting style according to content, situation, and student needs
  • Document services provided in accordance with school policies
