Job Overview The South Carolina Department of Social Services is seeking a Child Welfare Services Team Leader to supervise case managers in the Foster Care child welfare service area. Job Duties Provides direct supervision to case managers, ensuring accountability through case consultations, coaching, training, and support. Promotes safety, permanency, and well‑being by conducting case consultations, meetings, data reviews, and ensuring staff compliance with mandatory trainings. Ensures completion of Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS), Family Advocacy and Support Tool (FAST) assessments, Child and Family Team meetings, and Family Permanency Plans, reflecting up-to-date case information. Manages timely court packet submission, monitors adherence to court orders, and addresses legal barriers that affect permanency and legal proceedings. Engages collaboratively with staff, families, and other professionals with empathy and leadership, locating non‑custodial parents and kinship support. Provides EPMS planning and evaluation plans, participates in hiring and training of new employees, and completes performance and practice evaluations biannually. Maintains child welfare certification, completing required training hours annually. Promotes self‑care for staff and applies trauma‑informed principles to support families and staff. Safeguards personal identifying information (PII) and protects agency data and systems. Performs Red Cross shelter duty or other emergency shelter duties as directed. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum and Additional Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Behavioral Science, or Social Science. Alternatively, Bachelor’s Degree in any other field plus one (1) year of related experience. Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle.
