The Peaceful Mind Counseling Center is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Full-Time Licensed Mental Health Counselor. This role is specially designed for professionals passionate about supporting individuals struggling with obesity and binge eating. The successful candidate will deliver personalized therapeutic interventions to enhance mental health and support weight management, contributing to improved health outcomes across our community.

Work Environment\nThis remote position offers immense flexibility while ensuring that you become an integral part of a dynamic and supportive healthcare team. Your work schedule is structured as a 36-hour workweek, ideally comprising regular hours Monday through Friday, with no on-call commitments. You will utilize the EPIC electronic medical records (EMR) system to maintain accurate patient records, allowing for seamless coordination with other healthcare professionals while integrating advanced telehealth practices.
Key Responsibilities\nAs a Licensed Mental Health Counselor, your primary responsibilities will include:

- Conducting comprehensive evaluations to assess patients’ mental health, focusing on emotional and psychological aspects related to obesity and binge eating. \n
- Employing standardized diagnosis tools to assist in determining suitable treatment plans that meet each patient's unique needs. \n
- Delivering one-on-one therapy sessions tailored for individuals facing challenges pertaining to weight management. \n
- Formulating individualized treatment programs that focus on each patient’s specific goals, preferences, and psychological factors affecting their relationship with food. \n
- Providing education on the psychological components of weight loss, including self-esteem, body image, stress management, and effective coping mechanisms. \n
- Leading or participating in group therapy sessions for weight management, cultivating an encouraging environment where patients can share experiences and support one another. \n
- Regularly monitoring and evaluating patient progress towards their mental health and weight management goals, making adjustments to treatment plans as required. \n
- Maintaining comprehensive documentation of sessions, treatment strategies, and progress notes using EPIC to ensure continuity of care. \n
- Staying abreast of the latest research and treatment methods in mental health counseling and weight management for ongoing professional development. \n
- Fostering a collaborative atmosphere by working closely with fellow healthcare professionals, including physicians, nutritionists, and physical therapists. \n
You will primarily work with adults experiencing difficulties related to obesity and binge eating, addressing complex emotional, psychological, and behavioral issues. Your expertise will help empower patients to understand the emotional drivers of overeating or unhealthy eating patterns, facilitating their journey toward sustainable behavioral changes.
Qualifications\nThe ideal candidate will possess:

- A master’s degree in mental health counseling or a related field. \n
- A valid and unrestricted Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) license in the state of New York. \n
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with patients and team members. \n
- The ability to perform duties such as occasional lifting or moving of up to 15 pounds. \n
- Proficient visual skills including near vision and depth perception to properly assess patient states. \n
While we welcome passionate professionals from various backgrounds, experience directly related to weight management counseling or working with clients facing similar challenges is preferred. Familiarity with evidence-based treatment modalities like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is advantageous.
