After-School Program SupervisorAssist in supervising and planning activities for young children in an after-school program.Education/CertificationHigh school diploma or GEDChild Development Associate (CDA) credential (preferred)First Aid & CPR CertifiedSpecial Knowledge/SkillsAbility to work with groups of children in a positive manner and maintain disciplineKnowledge of educational and child care techniquesAbility to develop imaginative group activitiesAbility to follow verbal and written instructionsAbility to communicate effectivelyExperience3 to 12 months of related experience in child care requiredMajor Responsibilities and DutiesDevelop and implement a culturally appropriate program for young childrenPlan and implement culturally appropriate activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of the children in the programDevelop daily activity plansDevelop activities that introduce math and literacy conceptsProvide various experiences and activities for children including songs, games and story tellingProvide opportunities for rest time and complete homeworkProvide weekly and monthly schedules of activitiesProvide nutritious snacksEnsure children are supervised at all timesEstablish routines and provide positive guidanceProvide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortableImplement positive discipline when requiredClearly and effectively communicate in a manner that children understandEstablish policies and procedures including acceptable disciplinary policiesBe familiar with emergency proceduresEnsure equipment and the facility is clean, well maintained, and safe at all timesMaintain program administrationKeep parents informed of program expectations, activities and their child's progressDevelop and maintain current, accurate, and confidential client filesPerform other related duties as assignedWorking ConditionsMental Demands: Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling; regular heavy lifting of students; may experience smells associated with toileting and children who are ill.
