Corporate Fixed Asset Accountant

In this role, you’ll manage the full lifecycle of our fixed assets, from acquisitions and construction in progress through capitalization, transfers, depreciation, reconciliations, and disposals. You’ll work across the organization to maintain the integrity of our fixed asset records, ensure appropriate accounting treatment, and support accurate book and tax reporting across a dynamic portfolio.

We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical accounting knowledge with curiosity and sound judgment. Someone who doesn’t simply process an asset transaction, but understands what sits behind it, knows when to ask questions, and takes pride in making sure the accounting is right.

How You Will Make an Impact

\n

\n
• Manage the day-to-day fixed asset accounting lifecycle across thousands of assets, including additions, transfers, disposals, write-offs, depreciation, and amortization in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
\n
• Maintain accurate fixed asset records and reporting, including preparing asset data for system imports and ensuring the appropriate application of asset lives, depreciation methods, and accounting treatment.
\n
• Review capital expenditures to ensure purchases are appropriately classified in accordance with capitalization thresholds and expense policies.
\n
• Monitor Construction-in-Progress (CIP) accounts, track project milestones and costs, and ensure completed projects and assets are placed in service timely and accurately.
\n
• Perform monthly and quarterly reconciliations between the fixed asset system and general ledger and prepare supporting schedules and documentation for financial and tax audits.
\n
• Manage tax depreciation and fixed asset compliance, including MACRS, Section 179, Bonus Depreciation, recovery periods, property classifications, and mid-quarter convention calculations.
\n
• Apply IRS Tangible Property Regulations to evaluate repairs and maintenance versus capital improvements and support appropriate capitalization decisions.
\n
• Support complex improvement projects and cost segregation studies, working with external tax consultants and providing the project costs, construction documentation, and fixed asset data needed to complete the analysis.
\n
• Prepare tax depreciation schedules, roll-forwards, and supporting documentation for federal and state income tax filings, including Forms 4562 and 4797.
\n
• Calculate and document book-to-tax adjustments and maintain support for deferred tax assets and liabilities related to property, plant, and equipment.
\n
• Research complex fixed asset and tax questions using professional tax research platforms and translate findings into clear, practical solutions for the business.

What You'll Bring

\n

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related business field.
\n
• 4–6 years of corporate accounting experience, including at least 2 years directly focused on fixed asset management and corporate tax depreciation.
\n
• Hands-on knowledge of IRS requirements related to asset depreciation and experience applying those requirements in a corporate accounting environment.
\n
• Experience with specialized fixed asset software, such as Sage Fixed Assets, Bloomberg Tax Fixed Assets, or a comparable platform.
\n
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas and data modeling for large asset datasets.
\n
• Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy when working with high-volume transactional data.
\n
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to reconcile complex book-to-tax differences.
\n
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
