Red Hat on the River, a bustling riverfront restaurant with an inside/outside vibe in Irvington, NY, is looking for a warm, energetic person to join our front desk team as a Junior Reservations Manager / Host. Red Hat is an upbeat and friendly place where guest relations reigns supreme. If you're a people person with a genuine interest in hospitality, and making folks feel comfortable and welcome makes you feel good too, we'd love to meet you.
This is a great opportunity to start or grow a career in restaurant hospitality. You'll learn our reservations systems and standards from an experienced team and take on more responsibility as you grow.
What you'll do:
- Greet guests warmly and set the tone for their experience from the moment they arrive
- Answer phones, take reservations, and provide guests with general information about the restaurant
- Help manage the reservations book in real time, including cancellations, no-shows, and same-day requests
- Assist with lunch and dinner service planning, including pacing, table assignments, and special requests, so the floor team is set up for a smooth shift
- Note guest preferences and special occasions so we can make every visit feel personal
- Learn our reservations software and standards, and support the team as we train new hosts
What we're looking for:
- Some experience in hospitality, restaurants, or guest-facing customer service (a host or front-of-house role, or similar) is helpful, but enthusiasm and a willingness to learn matter most
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A warm, even-tempered disposition and a knack for problem solving, especially when things get busy
- Comfort with computers and phones; experience with OpenTable or similar software is a plus, and we'll train you
