Duties

• You will supervise work crews consisting of employees from various Shops and Codes in the shipyard.
• You will assign work to subordinates and instruct workers on requirements, methods, and procedures to accomplish assigned tasks.
• You will inspect work while in progress and upon completion.
• You will change work plans, assignments, and methods as necessary to reduce or control costs and maintain the work schedule.
• You will determine what work needs to be turned over to the next shift and ensure that the nature and scope of work is communicated clearly.
• You will enforce regulations and maintain standards for rules on conduct, safety, and housekeeping.
• You will supervise employees in shops or aboard ships performing complex tasks to assure compliance with technical directives.

• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
• Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
• Supervisors in the executive branch have a heightened personal responsibility for advancing government ethics. You will be required to review the 14 General Principles of Ethical Conduct at 5 CFR 2635.101.
