Vice President of Academics (2026-2027) - Manor, TX Position Reports To: Lars Nelson, Chief Academic Officer Start Date : June 1, 2026 Qualifications Minimum of 3+ years as a successful campus principal and/or district leader with a record of growth and achievement (Required) Have a master’s degree in education leadership or a comparable field (highly preferred) Ability to manage, analyze, and report data to inform decision-making Strong analytical, organizational, and leadership skills Experience with change management, organization development, conflict resolution, and facilitation skills Ability to work collaboratively with others in a fast-paced school environment to meet established deadlines Strong communication, presentation, organizational, documentation, and training skills Compensation and Benefits Competitive salary based upon credentials and experience, ranging minimum $100,000 to maximum $122,000 Health benefits include medical, dental, vision, and supplementary coverage with multiple plan options and telehealth services Mental Health and Wellness Supports: Employee Assistance Access for All Employees with access to counseling services. Employer-paid long-term disability and life insurance Paid local personal days, paid bereavement leave, and paid parental leave as well as all school holidays Participation in Texas Teacher Retirement System (TRS) Employee assistance programs that provide access to mental and emotional well-being support Your Mission As the Vice President of Academics, you will lead the Compass Rose network in delivering world-class instruction, fostering equitable student outcomes, and driving continuous academic excellence. You will set strategic vision and direction across the network, building and developing high-performing academic teams while aligning curriculum, instruction, assessment, accountability systems, and school improvement initiatives. Representing a highly visible and proactive function, you will oversee evaluation, testing, grant compliance, and special projects, ensuring data and research are applied effectively to improve school performance. In partnership with campus leaders and cross-functional teams—including Talent/HR, Finance, and Student Support Services—you will design and implement innovative programs, interventions, and data-informed strategies such as RTI and MTSS to ensure every student succeeds. Through operational oversight, rigorous compliance, and a culture of collaboration, you will champion a cohesive, high-impact approach to teaching and learning, ensuring Compass Rose remains a leader in academic achievement and excellence. Your Responsibilities 1. Strategy, Leadership & Network Vision Serve as a member of the Network Executive Leadership Team, shaping strategic direction and driving organizational priorities across the Compass Rose network. Translate accountability and compliance strategies into actionable objectives, integrating efforts across campuses and functions. Communicate vision, strategy, priorities, and performance data to internal and external stakeholders. Build, manage, and develop a high-performing academic team through coaching, mentorship, and professional development. Lead short- and long-term planning cycles, set clear priorities, and drive network-wide academic improvement. Manage partnerships with external organizations and vendors to enhance school performance and instructional programs. Oversee federal programs (Title I, II, IV) and partner with leaders on others (IDEA-B, Title III, Perkins). 2. Curriculum & Instructional Leadership Design, implement, and oversee instructional materials for ELA and Math (curriculum maps, scope and sequence documents, planning guides, assessments, and ‘look fors’). Advise K–12 teachers and school leaders on curriculum implementation, intervention programs, and supplemental instructional materials. Lead professional development and coaching initiatives aligned to ELA and Math priorities. Model instructional strategies, co‑teach, and observe classrooms to improve teaching practices. Collaborate with Student Support Services to meet diverse instructional needs and ensure program alignment. Stay abreast of developments in ELA and Math education to inform curriculum strategy and adoption. 3. Assessment, Data & Continuous Improvement Ensure fidelity of assessments, lead data cycles, and analyze results to inform instructional planning and student interventions. Develop and monitor intervention thresholds, and track progress toward academic benchmarks and network accountability goals. Lead the School and District Improvement Processes, including Targeted Improvement Plans. Use data to identify trends, predict student outcomes, and guide instructional and programmatic improvements. 4. Compliance & Accountability Oversee adherence to state and federal accountability systems, including TEA Performance-Based Monitoring. Manage federal programs (Title I, II, IV, IDEA-B, Title III, Perkins), including budgets, reporting, and staff performance. Maintain compliance documentation and provide analysis of federal, state, and local policies. Partner with PEIMS and school leaders to ensure accurate data coding and reporting. Maintain charter authorizer relations, ensuring compliance with applications and amendments. Facilitate dissemination of state and federal accountability reports and support related presentations to the board or stakeholders. 5. Operational & Administrative Oversight Oversee master scheduling, academic calendars, and alignment of instructional initiatives across campuses. Coordinate resources, events, and special projects related to ELA, Math, or other instructional functions. Ensure completion of administrative tasks, reporting, correspondence, and compliance-related documentation. Partner with network leadership to ensure accurate implementation of instructional programs, federal grants, and accountability processes. 6. Cross-Functional Partnership & Collaboration Partner with Schools Team and Campus Leaders to ensure alignment of instructional priorities with campus operations and student support systems. Facilitate communication and collaboration across departments to ensure a cohesive, high-impact approach to network-wide teaching and learning. Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of Response to Intervention (RTI), Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), and other special programs. Work closely with Finance to manage academic budgets, resource allocation, and grant-funded program expenditures. Coordinate with Student Support Services, Special Programs, and Operations teams to integrate systems and processes that drive academic excellence.
