We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented, and team-focused individual to join our team as a Cook at our AC Hotel in Newtown Square, PA! This property is managed by Gulph Creek Hotels (Wayne, PA). KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Prepare and cook food items according to established recipes, menus, portion sizes, and hotel standards. Prepare breakfast, lunch, dinner, and other food items as assigned. Ensure all food is prepared and presented consistently according to quality and presentation standards. Prepare ingredients by washing, peeling, cutting, chopping, measuring, and portioning food items as needed. Follow recipes and proper cooking techniques to ensure consistency and quality. Operate ovens, grills, ranges, fryers, microwaves, and other kitchen equipment safely and efficiently. Monitor food during preparation and cooking to ensure proper temperatures, quality, taste, and presentation. Maintain proper food temperatures and follow all food safety and sanitation procedures. Properly label, date, store, and rotate food products according to established procedures. Monitor food inventory and communicate low-stock or out-of-stock items to management. Assist with receiving, inspecting, storing, and organizing food and kitchen supplies. Minimize food waste by following proper portion control, preparation, storage, and inventory procedures. Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workstation throughout the shift. Clean and sanitize cooking equipment, utensils, work surfaces, counters, floors, and other kitchen areas as required. Assist with opening and closing kitchen procedures, including preparation, cleaning, stocking, and securing equipment. Ensure kitchen equipment and work areas are maintained in accordance with health and safety standards. Communicate effectively with the Food & Beverage team, Breakfast Attendants, Front Desk, Management, and other hotel departments. Respond to guest requests and special food requests in a professional and timely manner when applicable. Assist with catering, special events, group functions, and other food service activities as assigned. Follow proper procedures for handling food, cleaning chemicals, knives, equipment, and other kitchen materials. Report equipment malfunctions, maintenance concerns, food safety issues, or other concerns promptly to management. Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude at all times. Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality. Keep work areas clean, organized, and properly stocked throughout the shift. Adhere to all company policies and procedures and consistently exemplify company values in all interactions. Perform additional duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Previous cooking, food service, restaurant, hotel, or hospitality experience preferred. Previous experience working in a commercial kitchen is preferred. Food handler certification preferred or required as applicable. Knowledge of basic food preparation, cooking techniques, and food safety practices. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and recipes. SKILLS & ABILITIES Strong attention to detail and commitment to food quality. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment. Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities during busy service periods. Knowledge of proper food handling, preparation, storage, and sanitation procedures. Ability to safely operate kitchen equipment and utensils. Ability to follow recipes, portion sizes, and preparation instructions accurately. Basic math skills, including measurements, addition, subtraction, and portion calculations. Ability to read, write, and speak English effectively. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Ability to maintain a clean and organized workstation. Ability to remain calm and professional while working under pressure. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Regularly stand and walk for extended periods. Frequently use hands and fingers to prepare food, operate equipment, and handle kitchen utensils. Frequently reach with hands and arms. Frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach to retrieve food, supplies, and equipment. Ability to lift and carry food supplies, boxes, trays, cookware, and other items as needed. Ability to push and pull carts, equipment, and other kitchen items. Exerting up to 75 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Must have close and distance vision, color vision, and focus ability. Ability to work in a warm, fast-paced kitchen environment for extended periods. Ability to safely handle knives, hot surfaces, cooking equipment, food products, and cleaning chemicals.
