Registered Nurse Infection Preventionist

Role Overview: The RN Infection Preventionist evaluates resident care quality related to Healthcare Acquired Infections (HAI) and Community Acquired Infections (CAI), ensuring compliance with laws, regulations, and standards. Key Responsibilities Collects, analyzes, and presents HAI data with recommendations for improvement. Monitors staff adherence to infection control standards using barriers and prevention measures. Develops and delivers educational programs for staff, residents, and families. Serves as a resource across departments for infection prevention. Manages Public Health advisories and COVID-19 prevention efforts per CDC guidelines. Develops and oversees the Antibiotic Stewardship Program. Maintains current knowledge of infection control trends and practices. Performs duties within the scope of nursing licensure and makes independent decisions when needed. Qualifications & Skills Nursing diploma (associate's or bachelor's degree) and active RN license. CPR certification and specialized infection prevention training. Preferred experience in geriatrics and relevant certifications (e.g., Certified TB Nurse). Knowledge of infection prevention practices, laws, and regulations. Ability to interpret policies, implement programs, and perform competently across all areas. Strong communication, confidentiality, professionalism, and adherence to company policies. Additional Requirements: On-site presence, responsibility for monitoring health advisories, maintaining professional relationships, and ensuring compliance with infection control practices.
