Job Description

Ophthalmic Technicians plays a crucial role in supporting eye care professionals by conducting various patient screenings and diagnostic tests. Working within both large multidisciplinary teams and smaller specialized groups, these technicians utilize advanced imaging technologies and standard diagnostic equipment to ensure accurate patient assessments. This position offers opportunities for professional growth and cross-training in a dynamic, high-volume clinical environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient screenings and visual acuity testing
• Operate ophthalmic instruments and advanced imaging technology
• Perform diagnostic testing including tonometry and retinoscopy
• Prepare patients for examination and surgical procedures
• Record and maintain accurate patient data in electronic medical records
• Maintain and calibrate ophthalmic equipment
• Educate patients on procedures and eye care
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary and specialized clinical teams
• Assist in appointment coordination and patient flow management

Preferred Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year experience in ophthalmic technology
• Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT)
• Proficient in visual acuity testing, OCT imaging, tonometry, and retinoscopy
• Strong patient communication and teamwork skills
• Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
• Excellent attention to detail and time management abilities
