About the Position

Job Title: Staff RN Profession: Nursing Specialty: Med-surg Adult Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 7 PM - 7:30 AM Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Valid license to practice in the Client Certifications: CPR required Must-Have: Completion of an accredited nursing program resulting in a Diploma in Nursing, Associate degree in Nursing, or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing. Previous Registered Nursing experience preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to problem-solve and facilitate resolution to issues. Demonstrates the ability to handle multiple priorities. Critical thinking skills required. Description: The registered nurse assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and supervises individual patient care using the nursing process. Accepts responsibility for the direction of co-workers and delegation of role-appropriate tasks in the implementation of care. Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with established policies, procedures, and guidelines. Essential Job Functions: Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care of each patient according to the nursing process. Provides quality care based on assessment needs and an established plan of care/pathway. Provides education for the patient and family/significant other from admission through the discharge process. Ensures thorough, concise, accurate, and legible documentation of the nursing process/pathway. Notifies the physician of pertinent observations and changes in the status of the patient. Administers medications and performs treatments in an accurate and safe manner. Implements physician orders as written. Assures equipment and supplies are readily available for patient care, reporting malfunctions to the proper department. Physical Capacity Demand: Heavy Work: Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Position may require frequent patient handling activity. Psychological/Mental: Position requires the ability to regulate emotions and exercise self-control in the workplace. Must manage urgent situations calmly and communicate empathically with patients. Direct the work of support staff in a professional manner. May experience stress related to time management challenges and working with individuals who may be in pain or confused. Cognitive: Position requires intact cognitive function in attention, memory, perception, and thought. Ability to prioritize work tasks when multiple issues need attention. Keen observation and accurate reporting skills are essential. Strong organization, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills are needed. Environmental: No special considerations are noted.
