Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Medsurg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Chest tube experience preferred - Charge nurse experience is a plus Description: The department includes 30 private beds with an average census of 20. The nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:4-6. Common diagnoses and types of patients include dementia, post-surgical care, falls, influenza, pneumonia, failure to thrive, cancer patients, and COVID-19. Charge nurses will have a patient load and may work in a charge capacity if they have the necessary experience. Nurse aides are available on the unit, typically 2-3. Respiratory therapy equipment, including CPAP, is utilized with support from respiratory therapists. Telemetry monitoring is available on the floor, and monitor techs will read the telemetry. Shifts are 12 hours, running from 7 PM to 7 AM, with no self-scheduling. Flexibility is needed for weekend requirements, which are generally every third weekend, with additional coverage as needed. Holidays are generally every third holiday, including expectations around winter holidays. There is no call or standby requirement outside of voluntary cancellations. Staff may float to a progressive care unit if needed, but only for low-acuity patients. Dress code allows for any solid color scrubs without patterns or designs. A two-day nursing department orientation and one day on the floor will be provided.
