Description: The daily average census is 23 patients. The unit consists of 30 beds and 17 rooms. Patient ratios are 1:5 during the day and 1:6 at night. Candidates may be floated to sister units as needed. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend. The unit is a Certified Stroke Center. Candidates can be trained in PCU or MedSurg/Tele. Preference will be given to candidates who are PCU trained. The patient population includes those with cardiac, respiratory, COVID, infectious diseases, pre and post-operative needs, endocrine disorders, and strokes. The unit provides interdisciplinary support including physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation services, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, and pharmacy. Candidates must have experience with various skills including accessing/managing ports, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, chest tube management, interpretation of dysrhythmias, and more. The unit requires the management of a diverse range of patient conditions, including but not limited to seizures, substance withdrawal, surgical drains, and tracheostomy care. Candidates should be familiar with isolation precautions and PPE. Additional experience with starting and maintaining IVs, high flow nasal cannula, and PCA management is preferred. Applicants with foreign education will need to provide verification.
