PA - OR RN City/State: State College, Pennsylvania Shift: 8 hr shifts M-F; Rotate thru 0630-1500, 0900-1730, and 1100-1930; call and weekend opportunities available Contract Length: 13 weeks Start Date: 05/18/2026 Job Description: Responsible to the Director of Surgical Services, Unit Director/Manager, Clinical Supervisor, and/or designee for overall nursing practice. Provides professional nursing care based on current perioperative nursing knowledge through the use of Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN) Standards and Recommended Practice for Perioperative Nursing. Care includes the use of the nursing process through assessment of the patient and pertinent health data, analysis of collected data based on perioperative nursing theory and experience, development of a plan of care to meet those needs, implementation of nursing interventions based on current practice standards, and evaluation of patient care outcomes for the pediatric through geriatric age population. Responsibilities: Develops a plan of care based on an ongoing assessment of the patient in the holding area, operative suite, and post-operative setting. Implements perioperative nursing techniques and responds appropriately to natural physiological changes during the operative procedure. Implements health education by providing information to the patient and family relating to specific surgical nursing functions. Accepts responsibility and accountability for maintaining knowledge, skills, and competency in perioperative nursing. Requirements: Completion of an accredited registered nurse program required; BSN preferred. 2 years prior Operating Room experience required. Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Pennsylvania. Meets the American Heart Association's standards for Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) and renews every two years. Meets the American Heart Association's standards for Healthcare Provider Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and renews every two years.
