Controls Service Technician

Job Summary Johnson Controls is a global leader in building technologies, energy efficiency, and decarbonization. This role involves preventive maintenance, repair, installation, and commissioning of building automation and control systems. Responsibilities Conduct preventive maintenance, repair, installation, and commissioning and general servicing of systems, including detailed troubleshooting of control systems. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by providing direct, on‑site support and clear communication before, during, and after work. Mentor control technicians, service technicians, and mechanical technicians on building automation activities. Properly complete required project and service documentation, including certificates of completion, training forms, and punch lists. Provide solutions and outcomes as a trusted advisor to customers, recommending system enhancements, upgrades, or replacements. Diagnose and repair complex control system malfunctions, test and write modifications in multiple system software languages, and install or modify software and graphics. Provide field proposals for retrofits, upgrades, or enhancements to existing equipment. Assist in the design, configuration, and commissioning of building control systems, create flow diagrams, sequences of operations, bill of materials, and electrical schematics. Validate complete system functionality, troubleshoot problems with subcontractors and other trades, and keep management informed of job progress and issues. Provide training to customers on control systems operations and deliver manuals and documentation for training needs. Qualifications Minimum of 2 to 3 years of commercial controls troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry (buildings, chiller plants, and systems). Vocational school graduate, associate's degree in a technical field, or two years of experience servicing electronic or mechanical systems. Demonstrated ability to install and service electronic control systems and HVAC related equipment. Effective written and verbal communication skills to represent Johnson Controls on customer sites and to explain technical information to technical and non‑technical people. Knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems, and other building subsystems. Ability to work independently under minimal supervision and to mentor other technicians. Compensation and Benefits Hourly rate: $29.13 - $40.10, determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
