Job Description Job Description Lead Mechanic Westerly, RI 02891 Pay: $40.00/hour Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Lead Mechanic to support the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment facility in Westerly, Rhode Island. This position is responsible for maintaining plant equipment, collection system assets, and facility infrastructure while providing technical leadership to maintenance personnel. The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience, including pumps, motors, valves, VFDs, and control systems. Previous supervisory experience in an industrial, municipal, utility, or wastewater environment is preferred. Responsibilities Perform preventive, predictive, corrective, and emergency maintenance on plant equipment and collection system assets. Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain pumps, motors, valves, gearboxes, blowers, and related mechanical equipment. Diagnose and repair electrical systems, including 480V three-phase power, VFDs, motors, and control circuits. Assist with wastewater treatment equipment maintenance and process support. Utilize PLC and SCADA systems to monitor equipment performance and assist with troubleshooting activities. Schedule, coordinate, and oversee outside contractors as needed. Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and asset information within the CMMS system. Conduct facility and equipment inspections to ensure safe and efficient operation. Assist with inventory management, maintenance planning, and scheduling activities. Support budget tracking and cost-control initiatives related to maintenance operations. Respond to emergency maintenance situations as required. Train, mentor, and provide leadership to maintenance personnel. Participate in an on-call rotation and work occasional overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed. Qualifications ~5+ years of industrial, municipal, utility, manufacturing, wastewater, or maintenance experience. ~ Experience troubleshooting and repairing pumps, motors, valves, and rotating equipment. ~ Working knowledge of 480V three-phase electrical systems, VFDs, and control circuits. ~ Supervisory or maintenance leadership experience. ~ Experience using CMMS software for maintenance planning and recordkeeping. ~ Ability to read technical drawings, manuals, and schematics. ~ Welding and fabrication experience preferred. ~ Familiarity with PLC and SCADA systems preferred. ~ Knowledge of wastewater treatment operations and maintenance practices preferred. ~ Experience with maintenance budgeting, inventory control, and planning activities preferred. ~ Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills. ~ Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
