Pecan Jacks Ice Cream & Candy Kitchen is opening in Mt. Pleasant, and we're looking for the founding crew to help bring it to life. We're a family, community-focused ice cream and candy shop with a Lowcountry soul — handcrafted ice cream, pralines, brittle, and chocolates made fresh and served with genuine Southern hospitality. We're hiring for three roles at once, so tell us which one fits your schedule and experience best:

1. Ice Cream Scooper / Counter Server

Our classic front-of-house role. Flexible scheduling including nights & weekends (part-time 12–25 hrs/wk, full-time 32–40 hrs/wk).

What You'll Do

As a Scooper, you're the face of Pecan Jacks — greeting every guest, sharing what makes our ice cream and candy special, and making sure they leave with a smile (and probably a scoop of something new). You'll keep the front and back of the store clean, stocked, and running smoothly, all while delivering the kind of hospitality Pecan Jacks is known for.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet every customer with a warm "Welcome to Pecan Jacks."
• Deliver the full Pecan Jacks experience — sampling, storytelling, and genuine hospitality.
• Scoop and serve ice cream using proper serving weights; prepare waffle cones.
• Maintain ice cream case, dipping cabinet, and candy/ice cream station cleanliness.
• Stock and rotate product using FIFO (First In, First Out).
• Operate the cash register and count change accurately.
• Complete daily checklists and follow food safety/sanitation regulations.
• General cleaning: dusting, sweeping, mopping, windows, trash, patio.

2. Shift Leader

For experienced team members ready to step into leadership. You'll run the floor when the manager isn't on-site — opening or closing the store, keeping the team on track, and making sure every guest gets the full Pecan Jacks experience.

What You'll Do

Shift Leaders do everything a Scooper does, plus take ownership of the shift: coaching team members in the moment, handling guest issues that need a manager's touch, and making sure cash, product, and cleanliness standards are met before handing off to the next shift.

Key Responsibilities

• Open or close the store, including cash drawer setup/reconciliation and closing checklists.
• Assign stations and keep the team moving during rushes.
• Coach and correct team members in real time; model the guest-experience standard.
• Monitor product levels, temperatures, and FIFO rotation; flag issues to management.
• Handle guest concerns that go beyond a team member's authority.
• Step in on the floor (scooping, register, cleaning) whenever the shift needs it.
• Report any equipment, safety, or staffing issues to the Store Manager.

Additional Qualifications

• Prior food service, retail, or restaurant experience (leadership experience a plus).
• Comfortable handling cash reconciliation and basic POS troubleshooting.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to keep a level head during busy rushes.

3. Daytime Team Member / Scooper

Built for weekday daytime availability — great for parents, students with evening commitments, retirees, or anyone who'd rather work days than nights and weekends. Typical shifts run mid-morning through mid-afternoon on weekdays, with occasional weekend daytime hours.

What You'll Do

Same great role as our Scoopers above, scheduled specifically for daytime hours. You'll help open the store, handle the daytime pace (steady rather than rush-heavy), and keep everything prepped and stocked for the evening crew.

Key Responsibilities

• All core Scooper responsibilities (guest experience, scooping/serving, register, cleaning, FIFO).
• Help with opening duties: prepping stations, stocking cases, morning cleaning checklist.
• Maintain steady guest experience during weekday daytime traffic.
• Set the store up for a smooth handoff to the evening/night shift.

Qualifications (All Roles)

• Outgoing, customer-service-oriented personality with exceptional manners.
• Strong communication skills; comfortable engaging guests face-to-face.
• Works well in a team environment and treats coworkers with respect.
• Able to follow multi-step directions and listen well.
• Basic computer skills (iPad POS) a plus.
• Must be neat, clean, and well-kept.
• Able to lift 40 lbs and stand/scoop for extended periods.
