Senior Construction Craftsman - Plaster & Tile

Location: Deer Park, NY
Job Type: Full-Time | Year-Round
Travel: Required - Multiple New York Locations
Position: Traveling Master Pool Craftsman - Plaster & Tile

We are seeking an exceptionally skilled Master Pool Finishing Craftsman with extensive hands-on experience in swimming pool construction, plastering, tile installation, coping, grout, waterproofing, and high-end pool finishes .

This is a specialized construction role for an experienced craftsman who takes pride in precision workmanship and understands the technical requirements involved in delivering a high-quality finished pool. The ideal candidate will be capable of working independently, overseeing construction activities, operating heavy equipment, troubleshooting field issues, and maintaining exceptional quality and safety standards.

The position will require regular travel between four New York-area locations based on project needs.

• Oversee pool construction projects from start to finish, ensuring compliance with plans, specifications, safety requirements, and applicable building codes.

• Perform and oversee specialized pool finishing work, including:

  • Pool plastering

  • Tile installation

  • Coping

  • Grouting

  • Surface preparation

  • Waterproofing

  • High-end pool finishes

• Read and interpret construction plans, pool designs, measurements, elevations, and specifications.

• Properly prepare pool surfaces before plaster, tile, and other finishing applications.

• Ensure finished surfaces are level, smooth, properly aligned, and meet quality standards.

• Identify and resolve construction and finishing issues before they impact the final product.

• Operate heavy construction equipment, including excavators, backhoes, bulldozers, and skid steers .

• Perform excavation, grading, backfilling, site preparation, and related construction activities.

• Assist with or oversee pool structure, plumbing, tile, coping, decking, plaster, and other construction activities.

• Coordinate with project managers, supervisors, subcontractors, and field crews to maintain project progress.

• Inspect completed work and ensure deficiencies are corrected before project completion.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe jobsite.

• Follow OSHA requirements, company safety policies, and applicable local and state regulations.

• Properly operate and maintain company tools, equipment, vehicles, and machinery.

• Travel between the company's four New York locations as project requirements dictate.

• Provide hands-on guidance and training to less experienced construction personnel when needed.

• Take ownership of workmanship, productivity, safety, and the overall quality of each finished pool.

• Extensive professional experience in swimming pool construction .

• Demonstrated expertise in pool plastering and finishing .

• Strong hands-on experience with pool tile installation, coping, grout, waterproofing, and surface preparation .

• Ability to independently perform high-quality finishing work with minimal supervision.

• Experience operating heavy construction equipment, including excavators, backhoes, bulldozers, and skid steers.

• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, pool designs, elevations, measurements, and specifications.

• Strong understanding of pool construction methods, materials, measurements, elevations, and finishing techniques.

• Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding construction work.

• Willingness and ability to travel regularly between multiple New York project locations.

• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

• Strong safety awareness and ability to work effectively as part of a construction team.

The ideal candidate is not a general laborer or pool service technician . We are looking for a highly experienced pool construction craftsman who has developed advanced technical skills through years of hands-on experience.

The successful candidate should be able to evaluate a pool shell, tile layout, plaster application, coping installation, or finished surface and immediately identify the work required to achieve a professional, high-end result.
