We are looking for an experienced attorney to join Snowflake's Legal team as Director, Assistant General Counsel - Litigation. In this role, you will manage a diverse portfolio of litigation matters, serve as a trusted partner and advisor to the business, leverage artificial intelligence to enhance the way we get work done, and supervise one in-house litigation counsel. This role will report to Snowflake’s Senior Director, Associate General Counsel - Employment & Litigation. This is an in-person role based in Menlo Park, CA or Atlanta, GA. This is not a remote position.

Responsibilities

Litigation Management and Advising

• Working collaboratively with our Legal team, outside counsel, and cross-functional stakeholders, manage disputes and litigation matters across their full lifecycle — from initial case assessment through resolution.

• Lead and manage internal investigations on matters involving legal risks to Snowflake, including coordinating with the People team, Security organization, and other relevant functions.

• Manage and coordinate responses to subpoenas, garnishment orders, domestic relations orders, statutory requests for information, and requests from government and law enforcement agencies.

• Review and advise on litigation-related contractual provisions in commercial agreements, including dispute resolution, governing law, venue, arbitration, limitation of liability, and indemnification clauses.

• Advise business stakeholders on litigation risks and issues involved in business disputes; pragmatically weigh legal risks and benefits of complex situations and propose practical, business-oriented solutions with tact and maturity.

• Manage outside counsel relationships, including matter staffing, billing review, and strategic direction of litigation.

• Partner with privacy counsel and other specialists on disputes involving data, security, or regulatory matters.

Process & Infrastructure

• Lead efforts to create, improve, and scale processes and procedures related to the handling of litigation matters for a rapidly growing, global company, including litigation hold protocols, matter tracking, reporting, and knowledge management.

• Partner with legal operations on litigation-related technology, data, and workflow improvements.

• Develop and maintain internal resources, templates, and playbooks to support consistent and efficient litigation management.

Requirements

• JD from an accredited law school, active membership in at least one state bar, and ability to practice in the jurisdiction in which this position is located.

• Minimum of 8 years of legal experience, with substantive in-house litigation management and law firm experience; people management experience a plus.

• Proven experience managing complex litigation matters; class action experience a plus.

• Demonstrated ability to manage outside counsel, control litigation budgets, and set case strategy.

• Experience conducting and coordinating internal investigations.

• Experience managing responses to subpoenas and government/law enforcement inquiries.

• Ability to explain complicated legal concepts in plain language.

• Strong organizational skills, exceptional judgment, and comfort working in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

• Fosters team collaboration through high-quality work, a positive attitude, and clear, solution-focused communication.

The following represents the expected range of compensation for this role:

• The estimated base salary range for this role is $234,000 - $307,600.
• Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Snowflake’s bonus and equity plan.

The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location. This role is also eligible for a competitive benefits package that includes: medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance; 401(k) retirement plan; flexible spending & health savings account; at least 12 paid holidays; paid time off; parental leave; employee assistance program; and other company benefits.
