Job Title: General Production Worker Job Description

This role involves working on a production line in a food manufacturing environment, where you will handle, move, and prepare products for storage and shipment while maintaining strict safety and sanitation standards. You will perform a variety of physically demanding tasks, including palletizing, shrink wrapping, and moving materials, and you will help ensure products are accurately weighed, recorded, and transferred to the warehouse.

• Palletize finished products and securely shrink wrap them for storage and shipment.
• Clean and sanitize workstations and surrounding areas according to good manufacturing practices (GMPs).
• Move product and materials using a manual pallet jack in a safe and efficient manner.
• Weigh products on a small digital scale and accurately read and record digital weight measurements.
• Move filled bags that can weigh up to 50 pounds, following company policy to use two employees for items over 50 pounds.
• Push and pull large bowls on wheels that can weigh up to 1,000 pounds, ensuring at least eight bowls are moved per shift.
• Work on production and packaging lines to support food production and general manufacturing activities.
• Follow all safety procedures and good manufacturing practices, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout the shift.
• Stand for extended periods of 8 to 12 hours while performing repetitive production and general labor tasks.

• Experience working in a general labor, construction, manufacturing, or similar general labor environment within the last 5 years.
• At least 1 year of continuous employment with the same company within the last 5 years.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving bags up to 50 pounds according to company policy.
• Ability to push and pull wheeled bowls weighing up to 1,000 pounds multiple times per shift.
• Capability to stand for up to 8 to 12 hours per shift.
• Experience in production, general production, or production line work.
• Experience in assembly, packaging, or working as a packager.
• Experience in food production or food manufacturing environments.
• Basic machine operation skills related to production or manufacturing processes.
• Ability to accurately read and record measurements from digital scales.
• Commitment to following safety protocols and good manufacturing practices (GMPs).

• Background in manufacturing or food manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with general labor tasks such as material handling and manual pallet jack operation.
• Comfort working in a physically demanding role that involves repetitive motions and standing for long periods.
• Strong attention to detail when recording weights and handling products.
• Reliability and consistency demonstrated through prior long-term employment.
• Willingness to adhere to strict hygiene and appearance standards required in food production settings.

You will join a small, close-knit team in a family-like environment where safety, quality, and good manufacturing practices are top priorities. The organization provides a structured orientation to help you feel prepared and confident in your role, and you will work in a setting that values teamwork, accountability, and a strong safety culture.

The workplace is a small-town, family-like facility with approximately 30 full-time employees, fostering a close and supportive team atmosphere. Safety and good manufacturing practices (GMPs) are central to daily operations, and employees are expected to follow all safety and hygiene guidelines. The environment is physically demanding and production-focused, with tasks performed on a food manufacturing line. Temperatures can be warm, and some manufacturing rooms may reach up to 90 degrees during the summer, while conditions are comfortable in the winter. Orientation takes place on-site and typically lasts 3 to 4 hours, and depending on the shift schedule, work may begin the same day or shortly thereafter, with details communicated in advance. The dress code includes steel-toed boots, hair net, eye protection, jeans, shirt, bump cap, and lab coat. Employees must follow strict GMP-related attire and hygiene rules, including no smoking or tobacco products at the facility, no perfume or cologne, no fingernail polish, no jewelry of any kind, and no piercings. All clothing must be free of rips, tears, holes, or added embellishments to maintain a safe and sanitary food production environment.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Albert Lea, MN.

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
