Pre-Analytical Assistant I - 3rd Shift

Location: 5850 Rogerdale Road Houston, TX 77072

Starting Pay Rate: $17.20 Hourly (Based on experience)

Schedule: Monday - Friday | 10:00pm - 5:30am

Dean's Professional Services is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented, and motivated Pre-Analytical Assistant I to support a leading healthcare organization in Houston, TX . This is an excellent opportunity to begin or grow your career in laboratory operations while supporting a high-volume clinical laboratory that plays a critical role in delivering accurate and timely patient results.

Responsibilities

• Receive, sort, rack, centrifuge, aliquot, store, and distribute laboratory specimens following established procedures.

• Verify specimen integrity, identify labeling or documentation discrepancies, and resolve or escalate issues to ensure accurate testing.

• Prepare and transport specimens to the appropriate laboratory departments while maintaining specimen quality and chain of custody.

• Research test orders using laboratory information systems, translation tables, and directories of services to ensure compliance with testing requirements.

• Meet departmental quality, productivity, and turnaround time standards.

• Accurately complete required documentation while maintaining compliance with laboratory policies and regulatory standards.

• Assist with specimen storage, retrieval, and archive processes as needed.

• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following biohazard, OSHA, and safety protocols.

• Cross-train in additional laboratory support functions to expand technical knowledge and support departmental operations.

• Support team goals by maintaining schedule flexibility, including overtime, weekends, and holiday coverage when needed.

• Perform additional laboratory support duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.

• Previous laboratory, healthcare, or medical experience preferred.

• Knowledge of medical terminology and specimen handling procedures preferred.

• Experience working in a production, warehouse, or high-volume environment preferred.

• Familiarity with laboratory information systems and basic computer applications is a plus.

• Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.

• Ability to multitask and prioritize work in a fast-paced laboratory environment.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds , and move specimen carts or racks throughout the shift.

• Comfortable working in a biohazard environment while following all safety and compliance standards.

• Flexible schedule with the ability to work overtime as business needs require.
