Warehouse Supervisor

SUMMARY

Manages the purchasing and warehouse activities of the facility directly and through the supervision of warehouse employees. Responsibilities of this combination position include shipping/receiving and inventory control.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Direct inventory control through cycle counts; resolve differences and recommend adjustments.
• Coordinate the process of physical inventory for the facility.
• Formulate departmental goals, objectives and policies to ensure on time delivery.
• Prepare reports related to purchasing, inventory control and warehouse/shipping functions.
• Communicate with customers, vendors, and carriers to ensure timely deliveries of materials and orders.
• Hire, train. evaluate, and discipline employees.
• Manage the warehouse team to ensure achievement of goals related to efficiency, safety, and on-time shipments.
• Maintains regular, dependable and reliable attendance.
• Comply with all company policies and programs (including providing leadership for safety initiatives within the facility).
• Complete all other assigned duties as required and assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES


Manages all hourly Warehouse personnel. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE :

• BA / BS Degree or Associate Degree, or equivalent experience required.
• 3 or more years of experience in inventory control and warehousing: proper storage and rotation, purchasing, shipping & receiving goods, supervision & training.
• Prior supervisory Experience is highly desired
• Effective and efficient user of common computer equipment and programs including Microsoft Office (Excel & Word) and Internet Explorer.
• Knowledgeable in the use of the QAD, Oracle and BPics system.

LANGUAGE SKILLS : Excellent verbal and written communication needed to interface with all departments and outside vendors and customers, including the ability to compose appropriate business correspondence.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS : The ability to average, prepare graphs, prepare linear conversion, and count accurately.

REASONING ABILITY: This position requires the ability to deal with problems involving several variables in complex situations. The individual must be able to make necessary decisions to achieve immediate, as well as long range planning.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

• Some standing, sitting and walking for extended periods of time, The ability to use computers and common office equipment, as well as survey the work area of subordinates (including warehouse and exterior shipping/receiving areas is required.
• May be required to work flexible hours including evenings or weekends as needed.
• Proper personal protective equipment required while working in non-office environments.

WORK ENVIRONMENT : Varies: this position will function in both inside and outside environments. Most work will be performed in a climate-controlled office environment, but work will also be performed in the warehouse and in the exterior shipping/receiving areas. May occasionally require early morning, late night, or weekend work.
