The Adventure Center Manager is responsible for leading the resort’s Adventure Center and creating memorable, safe, and seamless experiences for guests exploring Jackson Hole and the surrounding area. This position oversees Adventure Center operations, guest activity planning, recreational programming, transportation coordination, equipment management, and the performance and development of the Adventure Center team.
The Adventure Center Manager serves as an ambassador for the resort and the Jackson Hole destination, providing knowledgeable recommendations and personalized experiences while ensuring operational excellence, safety, and exceptional guest service.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities- Lead the daily operation of the Adventure Center, ensuring a welcoming, engaging, and organized guest experience.
- Serve as a destination expert on Jackson Hole and the surrounding region, including seasonal recreation, attractions, dining, transportation, and local experiences.
- Assist guests with planning and coordinating activities such as hiking, biking, skiing, snowboarding, wildlife tours, rafting, fishing, horseback riding, and other seasonal experiences.
- Develop and maintain seasonal resort activities and adventure programming that enhances the overall guest experience.
- Build relationships with local outfitters, guides, transportation providers, recreation companies, and community partners.
- Ensure recommendations and reservations are personalized based on guest interests, abilities, schedules, and expectations.
- Proactively identify opportunities to enhance the guest experience and resolve concerns before they impact guest satisfaction.
- Maintain current knowledge of weather, trail conditions, road conditions, seasonal closures, local events, and recreational opportunities.
- Recruit, train, schedule, coach, and develop Adventure Center Guides and team members.
- Conduct daily pre-shift meetings to communicate resort activities, weather conditions, transportation needs, VIP arrivals, safety information, and operational priorities.
- Establish clear performance expectations and hold team members accountable for service, attendance, appearance, safety, and productivity standards.
- Foster a positive, collaborative work environment focused on teamwork, engagement, and exceptional guest service.
- Provide ongoing training in destination knowledge, guest engagement, activity recommendations, equipment use, transportation procedures, and safety.
- Ensure all team members authorized to operate company vehicles meet required licensing, training, insurance, and safety requirements.
- Monitor vehicle cleanliness, condition, fuel levels, maintenance needs, and required documentation.
- Promote safe transportation practices and immediately report vehicle incidents, damage, or safety concerns.
- Maintain a safety-first environment for guests and employees participating in Adventure Center activities.
- Ensure activities are conducted within established resort policies, park requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Conduct routine safety inspections of Adventure Center areas, equipment, vehicles, and recreational assets.
- Ensure employees understand emergency procedures, incident reporting requirements, and escalation protocols.
- Monitor weather and environmental conditions and modify, delay, or cancel activities when conditions create an unreasonable safety risk.
- Maintain required waivers, releases, inspection records, and other documentation associated with recreational activities.
- The Adventure Center Manager must be available to work mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays, and peak occupancy periods as required.
- Minimum 2–3 years of hospitality, recreation, outdoor adventure, concierge, guest services, or related experience preferred.
- Previous supervisory or management experience strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Jackson Hole, Grand Teton National Park, Yellowstone National Park, and regional recreational opportunities preferred.
- Passion for outdoor recreation and creating memorable guest experiences.
- Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced resort environment.
- Strong guest recovery and conflict-resolution skills.
- Comfortable working outdoors and adapting to changing weather conditions.
- Proficiency with computers, scheduling systems, email, and standard business applications.
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet company driving requirements if operating resort vehicles.
- CPR, First Aid, or other applicable outdoor safety certifications preferred or ability to obtain after hire.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull recreational equipment and supplies as required.
- Ability to assist with bicycles, luggage, recreational equipment, and guest activity setup.
