Pharmacist I – RWJBarnabas Health At RWJBarnabas Health, the Retail Pharmacist plays a critical role in patient care and operational excellence. Operating with a high level of independence, they ensure that medications are provided in a safe and rational manner according to legal and professional standards. They are responsible for reviewing prescriptions, consulting with healthcare providers, supervising staff, and providing high-quality pharmaceutical care. A Typical Day For a Pharmacist I May Include Reviews, perfects and verifies orders for completeness, accuracy and appropriateness in accordance with pharmaceutical care standards and prescribed policies and procedures Prepares or supervises preparation and accurate dispensing of medication to inpatients and outpatients, including unit dose dispensing, automated dispensing machines (Pyxis), IV admixture, chemotherapy, TPN, investigational drugs, other sterile products, and extemporaneous preparations, in accordance with hospital policy Demonstrates competency in utilizing EPIC for documentation of clinical interventions or other activities as appropriate Completes learner modules and competency assigned as appropriate Maintains exceptional customer service and effective communication with providers and nurses to ensure safe and appropriate use of drugs Performs duties including but not limited to medication counseling, therapeutic and formulary substitutions, medication reconciliation, pharmacokinetic monitoring, and renal dose monitoring Adheres to RWJBH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior as well as departmental specific standards of practice Other duties and/or projects as assigned This Role Might Be For You If Clear, compassionate communication defines how you interact with patients, families, and colleagues Attention to detail and clinical precision guide your work every day, understanding that errors have serious consequence You remain calm and highly adaptable while managing a fast-paced retail environment Patient safety, accurate drug evaluation, and delivering high-quality pharmaceutical care are your top priorities You enjoy working collaboratively with providers, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams Continuous learning, inventory awareness, and operational efficiency motivate you Creating a positive, reassuring, and legally compliant patient experience is central to your approach To Be Considered For This Pharmacist I Opportunity Graduate of an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy or FPGEC certification and internship hours 3+ Years of experience as a registered Pharmacist Must hold and maintain an active unrestricted Pharmacist license/registration from the State of New Jersey Proficiency in the use of pharmacy and other departmental software required for the position Preferred, Not Required BLS certification through the American Heart Association ACLS certification Board of Pharmacy Specialties certification Doctor of Pharmacy or other advanced degree Completion of ASHP accredited PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency RWJBarnabas Health is an Equal Opportunity Employer #J-18808-Ljbffr RWJBarnabas Health
