In this role, you will support the installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance of instrumentation, controls, electrical components, and test equipment. You will work with a high degree of independence and autonomy in a hands-on technical environment.This role is ideal for a technician with experience working with instrumentation and controls in a plant, chemical process, manufacturing, or similar industrial environment. The ideal candidate will be comfortable reading and updating technical drawings, working with electrical systems, fabricating from concept drawings, and safely supporting test and lab operations.You will work primarily in a lab environment. Occasional travel may be required, generally no more than 15%. You will work in a hybrid capacity from our San Jose, CA office and report to the Manager, Control Systems.Primary ResponsibilitiesInstall instrumentation, sensors, and associated hardwarePerform low-voltage DC and AC wiringCommission and troubleshoot test equipment, instrumentation, and control systemsSupport the procurement and specification of electrical components and hardwarePerform control panel wiring and modificationsSupport work involving HVDC power converters operating above 1,000 VDCRead and interpret industrial electrical drawings and schematicsUpdate drawings and create accurate as-built documentationFabricate and iterate hardware based on concept drawings and engineering directionRead and interpret piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)Identify hazards and follow appropriate safety practices while working in a lab environmentQualificationsExperience working with instrumentation and controls in a plant, chemical process, manufacturing, industrial, or similar technical environmentStrong understanding of industrial electrical drawings and schematicsExperience with low-voltage AC and DC wiringAbility to update technical drawings and create as-built drawingsAbility to fabricate and modify hardware based on concept drawingsWorking knowledge of piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)Experience commissioning and troubleshooting test equipment, instrumentation, or control systemsExperience with control panel wiring. Control panel design experience is a plusFamiliarity with electrical component and hardware specification and procurementAbility to recognize electrical, mechanical, and operational hazards and work safely in a lab environmentAbility to work independently and manage hands-on technical responsibilities with limited supervisionCompensation And BenefitsSan Jose Zone $46.28 —$62.61 USDActual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job-related skills, as well as relevant education or training and experience.
