Staffmark is hiring a Lead Tool and Die Maker to design, build, repair, and maintain precision tooling while supporting high-quality manufacturing operations. If you have strong machining skills, blueprint knowledge, and experience with CAD and EDM equipment, this could be the opportunity for you!

Education & Certification Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Completion of an apprenticeship program or trade school program is preferred.
• Technical training in machining, tooling, manufacturing, or a related field is preferred.

Skills + Experience Requirements:

• 25 years of experience in tool and die making required.
• Completion of an apprenticeship program or trade school program is preferred.
• Experience using CAD software for tooling design and modifications.
• Experience programming, setting up, operating, and maintaining EDM equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, sketches, and models.
• Strong knowledge of machining processes, tooling, dies, gauges, and fixtures.
• Experience using precision measurement tools, including calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and gauge blocks.
• Strong mechanical aptitude with troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of standard and metric measurement systems.
• Excellent attention to detail and visual accuracy.
• Ability to work independently while supporting team goals.

Job Duties:

• Design, build, repair, and modify tooling, dies, gauges, and fixtures.
• Operate Electrical Discharge Machinery (EDM), including programming, setup, operation, and maintenance.
• Use CAD and technical documentation to create or modify tooling designs.
• Review blueprints, specifications, and models to determine project requirements.
• Select appropriate metals and materials based on project specifications.
• Machine, assemble, adjust, and finish tool and die components.
• Use hand tools and machine tools to fabricate precision parts.
• Verify finished part dimensions to ensure specifications are met.
• Troubleshoot tooling issues and perform repairs on manual and progressive dies.
• File, finish, and adjust components to ensure proper fit and function.
• Maintain safe and efficient work practices while meeting production goals.

Physical Capabilities:

• Ability to stand for extended periods throughout the shift.
• Ability to work with hand tools, machine tools, and precision equipment.
• Ability to handle metal components and tooling materials.
• Ability to perform detailed visual inspections of parts and tooling.
• Ability to bend, reach, and move throughout the work area as needed.
• Ability to follow all safety procedures in a manufacturing environment.
