Job Description

Join a highly skilled fabrication team as a Welder / Fabricator, contributing to the production of large, custom capital equipment and assembly lines for leading industrial manufacturers. You will work closely with a small team in a clean, well-organized facility, using your welding and fabrication expertise to produce high-quality components from stainless steel, aluminum, brass, and various carbon steels. This is a first-shift, hands-on role for an experienced professional who takes pride in their work, can provide guidance to others, and thrives in a fast-paced shop environment.

Responsibilities

• Perform MIG and TIG welding on stainless steel, aluminum, and other metals to fabricate high-quality parts and assemblies.
• Read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings to determine dimensions, tolerances, and welding requirements.
• Set up, operate, and adjust welding equipment to complete precise welds according to specifications and quality standards.
• Cut, punch, and grind steel and other metals as needed to prepare components for welding and assembly.
• Work with a variety of materials including stainless steel, aluminum, brass, 1018, and 1045 steels.
• Collaborate with a team of 4–6 people to complete fabrication projects on schedule and according to customer requirements.
• Use shop equipment such as mills, lathes, and other machining tools as needed to support fabrication work.
• Inspect completed welds and fabricated components for accuracy, structural integrity, and adherence to blueprints.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in accordance with facility and OSHA standards.
• Wear and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow all safety procedures.
• Train and mentor less experienced operators, sharing best practices in welding, blueprint reading, and shop safety.
• Demonstrate leadership on the shop floor by setting a high standard for workmanship, productivity, and accountability.
• Communicate effectively with team members and other departments such as machining, assembly, and engineering to resolve issues and coordinate work.
• Adapt to changing project priorities and support multiple jobs as needed to meet production demands.
• Participate in occasional Saturday work as needed to support production schedules.

Essential Skills

• 5+ years of welding and fabrication experience strongly preferred.
• Proficient MIG welding skills on stainless steel and aluminum.
• Ability to perform TIG welding on stainless steel and aluminum.
• Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints and fabrication drawings.
• Hands-on experience working with stainless steel, aluminum, brass, 1018, and 1045 steels.
• Demonstrated ability to cut, punch, and grind steel and other metals safely and accurately.
• Leadership skills with the ability to guide, support, and hold team members accountable.
• Ability to train and develop less experienced operators in welding and fabrication techniques.
• Comfort working in a busy shop environment with moving mechanical parts, noise, and vibration.
• Ability to regularly lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds and perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, climbing stairs, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
• Effective two-way communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Good visual acuity, including close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in a capital equipment or large assembly line manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with shop machining equipment such as manual mills and lathes.
• Ability to operate or collaborate with CNC milling centers and related machining processes.
• Strong sense of ownership and pride in workmanship, with a focus on quality and reliability.

Work Environment

The role is based in a custom-built manufacturing facility designed to accommodate large capital equipment and assembly lines. The operation is organized into dedicated departments, including Machining, Assembly, Weld/Fabrication, Paint, and Engineering/Design, all of which take pride in maintaining safe and clean work areas. The machining department includes Trumpf CNC milling centers and several manual mills and lathes, supporting a broad range of fabrication and machining activities.

This is a first-shift position, typically working from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Saturday, with Saturday hours generally ranging from 6 to 8 hours and Sunday work available on a voluntary basis. Work is performed in a shop environment that requires PPE in accordance with OSHA standards, with frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, chemicals, vibration, and high noise levels. The position is physically demanding, requiring regular standing, walking, climbing stairs, and the use of hands for detailed work, as well as occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and the ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds. Appropriate work attire and PPE are required to ensure safety and compliance with shop standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of FREDERICKTOWN, OH.

The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $27.00/hr.
