Associate Counsel

Full-time position located in the Administration South office, Turlock, CA.

As a farmer-owned co-op with over 100-year history serving the agriculture community in Stanislaus, Merced, Tuolumne and Mariposa counties, Yosemite Farm Credit has a commitment to our region's agriculture. The Association currently provides lending services to approximately 5,200 customers with loan volume of over $5 billion. Major commodities financed include dairy and almonds, in addition to irrigated field crops, cattle, and walnuts. Under the supervision of the Executive Vice President – General Counsel, this position will perform a variety of legal functions including, but not limited to: provide legal counsel, advice, analysis, and support on an extremely wide range of challenging and interesting legal issues and matters, with particular emphasis on agricultural finance, real property law, employment law, privacy law and data security, corporate governance, contract law, legal and regulatory compliance, and other matters. Assist in overseeing and monitoring litigation and in preparing loan documents. Work with outside counsel specializing in bankruptcy law, loan collections, employment law, privacy law and data security, and other areas. Provide legal solutions that assist Yosemite Farm Credit in achieving its business goals and objectives and in developing business practices that are consistently of the highest quality and integrity and other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an ABA accredited law school and active license in good standing with the State Bar of California.
• Experience: 0-5 years of relevant legal experience.
• Experience with agricultural finance, contract drafting and review, employment law, or privacy law and data security preferred but not required.
• Ability to apply analytical and critical thinking skills to work.
• Ability to recognize potential problems and solve or escalate accordingly.
• Possesses strong organizational, interpersonal and follow-through skills.
• Performs work accurately with strong attention to detail.
• Meets deadlines and effectively prioritize a fast-paced and varied workload, effectively manage a variety of concurrent and shifting priorities.
• Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to find practical and workable solutions for complex issues.
• Possesses the utmost in honesty, humility, and integrity, with a strong work ethic.
• Works independently.

Grade/Salary/Benefits:

Yosemite Farm Credit offers a competitive benefit package that includes, but is not limited to, outstanding vacation/sick time accrual, health, dental, and vision plans, tuition reimbursement, 401k fixed AND company match, corporate fitness program, performance related compensation, volunteer time off and paid holidays.

The Base Salary for this position ranges from $9,000 (minimum) - $14,000 (maximum) per month, depending on experience. Position is also eligible to participate in annual incentive program (performance related compensation) earning up to 10% of annual base salary. This program is subject to Board approval.

Workplace Flexibility Program:

Once eligible, Yosemite Farm Credit offers a Workplace Flexibility Program for qualifying positions that provides the opportunity to have a hybrid (in office and work from home) schedule. The Workplace Flexibility Program includes an allowance of up to $500 for qualifying expenses to outfit employees' home office. Please note, this is not a fully remote position.
