Teach the District curriculum and actively participate in the curriculum alignment/development process. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Qualifications Education/Certification: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university. Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned or approved alternative certification. ESL Certified. Special Knowledge/Skills: General knowledge of curriculum and instruction. Knowledge of subjects assigned. Ability to research and develop teaching units. Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Experience: Student teaching or approved internship. Major Responsibilities and Duties Instructional Strategies/Curriculum Expectations Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required. Align resources used to the curriculum. Align teaching to the District curriculum. Actively participate in the District curriculum development process. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by federal regulations, the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations. Incorporate research-based instructional strategies in the teaching of the curriculum. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the diverse needs of students assigned. Ensure equal access to curriculum and equitable delivery to each student. Work cooperatively with other teachers to modify curricula as needed for students with special needs (i.e., Special Education, 504, Bilingual). Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements. Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s), and student teachers. Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process. Student Growth and Development Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits. Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing. Analyze and interpret student assessment data to diagnose each student's learning in order to differentiate instruction to meet each student's instructional needs. Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and approved by the campus principal. Be a positive role model for students and support mission of school district. Classroom/Laboratory Management and Organization Create classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students. Manage students behavior in accordance with District Discipline Management Plan Code of Conduct and campus student handbook. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Assist in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials. Communication Establish and maintain open communication with parents, students, principals, teachers and support staff. Encourage parents to support student learning. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members. Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly. Professional Growth and Development Seek and actively participate in appropriate, ongoing professional development. Other Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers. Compile, maintain, and file reports, records, and other documents required. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required. Supervisory Responsibilities Supervise teacher aide(s), volunteer(s), and student teacher(s) as assigned. Equipment Used None. Working Conditions Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Be able to meet mental demands of teaching assignment (i.e. maintain emotional control under stress). Be able to meet physical demands of teaching assignment (i.e. frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing). Be able to maintain an environment conducive to teaching and learning (i.e. treating all students with respect, developing positive relations with students and parents). Coach Primary Purpose: Successfully coach assigned sport allowing students to excel and develop proper skills and attitudes while following guidelines of Head Coach. Coach Qualifications Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree. Valid Texas teaching certificate. C CPR/First Aid Certification or willing to attain it prior to August 2026. Valid Texas CDL or willing to attain it prior to August 2026. Special Knowledge/Skills: Experienced as a player or coach. Positive background in athletics. Coach Major Responsibilities and Duties Work with training staff to ensure the physical welfare of all participants. Follow rules of the UIL and the Gonzales ISD. Dress professionally for both workout and contests. Follow guidelines of Director of Athletics, Head Coach, and Coordinator. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics. Supervise athletic contests and practices to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship. Monitor and enforce student eligibility for extracurricular participation. Accompany and supervise athletes on out-of-town trips. Maintain proper communication with parents, students, principals, and teachers. Compile and maintain all records that are required. Responsible for striving to attain the objectives outlined for their specific level of competition. Adhere to methods prescribed by the head coach. Attend meetings and in-service programs held by the head coach. Keep the Athletic Director or Head Coach of the sport informed about appropriate matters. Cooperate and communicate with other coaches and school personnel in performance of their assignments. Maintain a professional relationship with students, faculty and parents. Coach Supervisory Responsibilities Assistant coaches are responsible for monitoring students in the locker room, during workouts, on athletic trips, as well as until an athlete has been picked up by their parents. Coach Equipment Used Telephone, computer, copy machine. Coach Working Conditions Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent travel. Frequent prolonged and irregular hours. Possible outdoor exposure to cold and heat. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk and stand. Occasionally the employee will sit and run. The employee will frequently bend or twist at the trunk while performing the duties of his job. The employee will frequently squat, kneel, reach above the head, reach forward and repeat the same hand motion many times while performing the duties of this job. The specific vision requirements of the job include good depth perception and occasionally being able to see objects/persons at a distance. While performing the duties of the job, the employee frequently is required to hear the conversation in a quiet, as well as a noisy, environment and be able to communicate to the team in order to give directions.
