EMT-Per Diem This is a per diem Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) position within the Selma Fire Department’s EMS Division. The role provides the highest level of care, treatment, and transport for all patients in an expedient and safe manner as outlined by Fresno County EMS agency and Selma Fire Department Policy, Procedure, and Protocols. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Under supervision, provide Basic Life Support services to ill and injured persons in the pre‑hospital and inter‑facility setting. Maintain, operate, and assist in an Advanced Life Support ambulance. Administer prescribed treatment at the scene, including first aid, immobilization, splinting, oxygen administration, and other Basic Life Support procedures recognized by Fresno County EMS authority. Maintain a professional appearance and attitude when representing the Selma Fire Department. Complete and ensure the accuracy of all required paperwork. Assist in the maintenance of EMS equipment and stations. Participate in the department’s public education programs and training division as required. Perform additional duties as needed to support the EMS mission. Knowledge, Abilities, and Skills Knowledge of the local geography, and all pertinent policies, procedures, and protocols. Ability to drive an ambulance safely in accordance with traffic laws and ordinances. Ability to keep records, prepare reports, and understand oral and written directions. Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships and effectively use all equipment carried by an ambulance. Desired Minimum Qualifications Any combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge and abilities. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Requirements Possession of a current Fresno County EMT 1A certificate (required prior to employment), current Basic Cardiac Life Support – provider or instructor, current California Ambulance Driver certificate with a current Medical Examiner’s card, and possession of an appropriate California driver’s license issued by the State Department of Motor Vehicles. Mental and Physical Demands Requires a very high degree of concentration for extended periods; ability to analyze and interpret data from a variety of sources; make corrective decisions under stress; and use both strength and agility in emergency medical situations, including moderate walking, lifting of moderate to heavy objects (100+ pounds), climbing, crawling, stooping, bending, and high degrees of hand‑eye coordination. #J-18808-Ljbffr
