Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

Planning, scheduling and dispatching intermodal and 53 ft dry van freight, while managing the relationship with our Contracted Owner Operators and customers. They are instrumental in the successful coordination of the timely and accurate delivery of goods.

Job Duties:
• Monitor personnel performance and available hours to coordinate service and schedules.
• Determine types or amounts of equipment, vehicles, materials, or personnel required, to ensure we meet the customers' specifications.
• Schedule or dispatch company drivers and contracted owner operators to the appropriate locations, according to customer requests, specifications, or needs, using dispatch software, email or telephones.
• Monitor inbound, outbound cargo/intermodal freight throughout transit in order to effectively meet delivery schedules.
• Manage customer and driver expectations to align with operational capabilities.
• Communicate pickup and delivery information, messages, or information to or from company drivers and contracted owner operators, using dispatch software, email and telephones.
• Develop and maintain a strong relationship with Independent Owner Operators and Company Drivers within the fleet. Provide support to Driver to ensure that their professional needs are being met.
• Communicate with customers, safety and/or supervising personnel to address questions, problems, or requests for service or equipment.
• Communicate with customers or through their websites/online portals. Maintain a very high level of customer service.
• Respond to customers efficiently, thoroughly, and professionally. Work cooperatively with customer service/sales to provide solutions for customers' needs and resolve issues.
• Advise personnel about traffic problems, such as construction areas, accidents, congestion, weather conditions, or other hazards.
• Arrange for necessary repairs to restore service and schedules.
• Receive or prepare delivery paperwork.
• Record and maintain files or records of customer requests, work or services performed, charges, expenses, inventory, or other dispatch information.
• Manages the fleet productivity using critical performance indicators.
• Manage all dropped equipment at customer locations or our yard.
• Reconcile daily yard checks.

Skills and Qualifications:
• 3 plus years of experience in dispatch of intermodal freight preferred.
• Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office including but not limited to Outlook, Word and Excel.
• High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED): Required
